I'm planning on getting Steeda lowering springs this spring for my 05 GT. I know the springs sell for 260 on Steeda's website, but how much does the installation usually cost? Also, where did most of you get your's installed? Thanks guys.

I paid 175.00 for the install and 199.00 for the Pro Kit. Take it to a place with a good rep.

Sorry for the silly question, but aren't springs pretty easy to install? I don't mean that you can just install em in a few minutes in your garage, but more that any decent performance shop should be able to do it? I am getting springs done soon as well, but the local shop with the best rep in town for working on stangs is literally over an hour away. I will be going there for any tunes and gears and such, but I was thinking that the performance shops nearer to me could handle something like springs. Am I wrong for thinking this?

Rear springs are very easy to replace as long as you have 2 jack stands and a floor jack. The front ones are harder as you need to remove the strut and you also need a spring compressor. However, that being said a lot of places rent spring compressors. When I get a kit I will install it myself. It will take about 1 hour for each front spring and maybe 1 hour for the rear.

After doing a bit of research, I personally won't be attempting this myself. Decompressing, and recompressing the springs, even with a spring compressor is a very dangerous thing to do, and if the compressor, or your floor jack fails it can have pretty serious results. The load on these compressed springs is pretty large, and rapid decompression due to a failure in a piece of equipment can cause serious injury.

I am with you. Screw it, I am paying to have it done. Too much uncertainty in this forum. Go with the safe alternative. Thanks.

I did it on my 66 mustang. I had some cheap spring compressor from autozone and the spring popped out of it. luckily, nothing happened. I ended up getting a compressor that goes through the spring instead of on the side. Was pretty easy then.

If you get a good spring compressor and know how to use it and use it right, you should have no problem with doing it yourself. Spend a few hours and do it yourself... just make sure to take your time. If I get springs, which I'm still not sure about, I will be doing it myself. Just make sure you research the install and how to use the compressor beforehand.

Just figured I would let you know, that I'm lowering my 05 tomorrow...not using aftermarket springs though.....gonna "CUT" em.
-I know, I know....everyone thinks that is a bad idea, but I'll be the guiena(spelling) pig for everyone else.

I just installed Eibach pro-kit springs today. Only took me 1 1/2 hours. Ride is a bit stiffer but not that noticable. I like the feel and the new look

Cutting is never a good idea Trust me, you will regret doing it just like everyone else. If you don't cut them right you will have popping noises. If you do cut them right you will be bottoming out a lot anyway.

did you have to use any special spring compressor on the front?
I've installed cut springs alot on older model Mustangs and have never used a spring compressor.
