no problem guys, I noticed this morning it has a little more 'sucking' sound when you step on it, and more of a hollow sound as it growls through the mid range torque curve than it used to as well.
And interestingly, there is a bottle on the bottom of the old elbow like a collection basin which I find quite interesting. Anyone know what that is for>?

Yao you'll love it, you will get the performance you want, and you can have the elbow painted, my body shop is going to match the color of my car for me

Kristina,

I find it interesting that you're making more horsepower than torque......?

Also, have you ever asked Paul about what he thought adding the inlet tube would do for your numbers?

Add 144 Hp To Shelby GT500 With Steeda Products

April 13th, 2007 by CobraMatt

Forget about buying the Shelby GT500 KR with 540 horsepower for upwards of $50K, why not just buy a Shelby GT500 and add two bolt-ons plus a tune from Steeda for an extra 144 hp at around $1500. Steeda has come out with a new Cold Air Kit specifically designed for the Shelby GT500 that produces the greatest power gains of any kit on the market combined with their Custom SCT Tune. The horsepower generated from the kit and tune equal 97 additional horsepower to the rear wheels. If you add Steeda’s Supercharger pulley to those two mods horsepower jumps to 144 additional rear wheel horsepower and they have the dyno results to prove it. I have a S-GT that (as everyone knows) already has the FR1 installed with FRPP tune. When I called Steeda about the elbow tube, they said I would have to re-tune or the system would go into limp-home mode. Can the elbow make that much difference alone? You guys that already had an FR1, did you have to re-tune after adding just the Steeda elbow.

Thanks for your time.

That's strange that they told you a re-tune was needed. It says on the Steeda website that no re-tune is needed. I even spoke to a rep from Steeda who said that the elbow does not require a re-tune. I had CAI put on with the elbow from the beginning and it worked fine with the pro-cal tune from Ford Racing. I eventually got it custom-tuned from a local tuner and picked up another 20 RWHP out of the same exact equipment. Doug at bamachips recommended the high inlet elbow and that's why I purchased it with the CAI, but even he said that his mail order custom tune for the Steeda CAI needed no additional adjustment for the elbow.

Hope that helps,
~Tifo

The reason why they may have told you that.. is because there's a very huge difference between just the slightly improved tune file found in the pro cal tool than the tuning files in either the X-CAL II or Predator which are far more aggressive..Other than that ? I can't think of any other reason which would make any logical sense IMHO

Thanks for the input, I also read that it didn't require re-tune on their website. I will order the elbow, but I don't expect significant (if only marginal) gains. I guess every little thing adds up.

I wanted to wait on a custom Bama tune after I order and install charge motion plates (still undecided). I have heard pros and cons about the plates.

Thanks again.

Hey everyone, finally got around to getting my Bamachip's 93 race tune and Steeda CAI dyno checked by Powerhouse Automotive..The results with just the CAI and tune before adding Steeda UDP's were 289 rwhp and 289 rwtq.. and then afterwards with the Steeda UDP's producing an additional 11 rwhp for a total of 301 max HP and an additional 5 ft.lbs of torque providing a max 294 rwtq across the rpm band..although the air/fuel is not listed in the dyno graph ? my air/fuel results are between 12.9 and 13.0 which is considered within safe parameters on the dyno..I'll also be posting a text file of all pulls as soon as I receive them from Mike at Powerhouse..In the meantime, here's an attachment of the dyno print out..
