Steeda Billet Charge-Motion Control Plates Installation

2 hours to install, I found it easy. Common tools found in most garages: 10mm deep socket, 8mm socket, 8mm wrench(or deep 8mm), Torx30, torque wrench.
One mistake: 89 lb-in. not 89 ft.-lbs. So I sheered the number 1 Intake manifold bolt. Ford will have one in for me on Friday.

Two question marks: The plates move around on the intake manifold before you tighten it down, so you have to port match, I hope I did it correctly. The billet ones have a little larger ports. Also the green seals were oily. I wiped them off, was that a mistake?

What would I redo: I failed to blow air around the engine before disassembly. I thought my engine compartment was clean, wrong. Daytona Beach drive comes back to bite me Dirt everywhere under the intake manifold.

Pictures are worth a thousand words...

1. You can see the oversized ports in the first picture.
2. I wrapped with green painters tape all of the connections I removed. That way I would not forget a vacuum line or electrical connection.
3. I also taped the ports to lessen the debris entering them.
4. My cat decided to pose. Yes, I did this outside on my driveway, no garage

P.S. Steeda Underdrive pulleys go on tomorrow.

Nice combo. I finally got around to doing the pulleys and plates about a month ago. I never thought that I could feel anything from the pulleys except better gas mileage but I did "think" I could feel the delete plates.

Enjoy

It looks to me like that you took some precautions on your install so I don't think I would be too worried about any dirt. And yes the plates float around within the screw clearance...so all you can do is try to even everything up to make it equal!!!

So how does the car feel? I lost about .5 GPM and Installed UDP's roughly the same time so who knows how much I lost.

At first, I was expecting great things out off my $400 purchase of delete plates and UDPs. I didn't really feel it like the CAI/Tune. But after further testing, I have concluded I was looking for the wrong thing. What the CMDP/UDP provides is smooth, consistent, faster increase in RPMs. So with that in mind, let me try to describe what I feel. At start up, the rpms used to jump up to 1.5k for 30 seconds to warm up, then dropped to 720rpms and idled. Now the car starts and immediately idles at 800 rpms. I think this is a Bamachips tune modification. Second, when in 2nd gear at 2k rpms, in traffic, I feel that the car is more responsive to quick pedal mashing. Before , there was a delay when the butterfly opened up, ever so slightly. Third, I notice when accelerating, that it is smooth from 2k up to 6.5k. Before there was a place when the car lurched forward, now it constant, consistant acceleration throughout the rpm band. Is it in my head? Maybe. But I now seek back to back testing with another Mustang with just a CAI and Tune to analyze my findings.

BTW, dyno results as early as tomorrow.
