I agree with AJ. It does look pretty cheap. Kinda like a Trailer Park version of overhaulin'. Sorry.

Shouldn't this be considered an Exterior Mod? It really has nothing to do with Performance or Tech.

The sole purpose was to get rid of all the ugly tape all over the black looms and make a more cleaner look. It is not finished yet, I have the polished chrome caps , and strut covers and bolts coming from UPR, and allthough you cant see it well, I have the mirror radiator covers, and fuze box cover. Trial and error to make the engine bay more clean and sharp for the car shows I am doing this summer. I was going to go with yellow, but the color didnt match well, and it wouldnt look right. I appreciate your opinions though, that is why I posted.

AS far as what thread, I thought it belonged here, seriously, but if I am wrong, I am sure they will move it and let me know.

Thank you for your honest opinions.

I would have stuck with black wire loom. The chrome makes it look like it was wrapped with aluminum foil.

Tough audience on this site!

(At least, that's my $9.84 worth, which is going out today, John!)

Black loom sounds good though, not as "look at me!!" as the chrome looms. I think it will blend in nicely....

The purpose is to make the judges take a look at my car, not just at the looms, but the caps, strut covers, radiator cover, etc. the mirroered and chrome is flashy to get noticed, which is the point. redoing the black looms would make it look like everyone elses in the show .

When it is finished, I will then decide is it is to much or not. The thing I dont want is to make it look like "rice" or cheap. SO far I think it looks great, but I dont have the caps yet, so the jury is still out on the final project until then.

True...you do want to make the judges look at your car and you do want to be different , but at what expense?..looking cheap? Id say draw their eyes away from the wires and to the mods you have mentioned, Radiator cover, strut covers and so on...my 2cents

Rene, if I were judging your car, I'm not sure if I would like what you did there. I also think it looks a bit tacky. When they were black, they disappeared which is what you want things like wires to do. I don't think it's a good idea to make them stand out. Let your manifold cover stand out and things like wires disappear. If I were you and trying to impress judges, I'd take off your cam covers and either have them polished or paint them yellow. I don't know, when I look at your engine now, Dr. Octopus comes to mind. This is just my two cents, and I know we haven't always agreed in the past, but I think you should go back to the black plastic wire looms.

It's Friday. I tend to be grumpy on Friday's. Sorry if I was to blunt and to the point.

I personally don't care for it, but I have probably done something to mine that someone else might not care for. So to each his own. I don't think I would have put a fiberglass cover over my plentium to trap heat either. But that is just me.

More importantly, does it make it go faster

Well the fiberglass cover is only temperary as a prototype, as i am getting the molded plastic one in a week. It will have the Black POWERED BY FORD decals, and the "'05 GT" logo emblem or the chrome running pony on it. (undecided on that one right now)

As far as the chrome wire loom, it is not complete yet, and the caps I ordered are not in yet, so the finished product will tell. If it is too much, I will replace with all black new tubing to get rid of the ugly tape job ford did. Until then, I will keep it until I see everything all put on together, then decide.

I know what you're thinking Rene, but what would make it better, is to use braided steel line. Not cheap, not easy, but it's really the look you're going for.

I checked into that, and with the costs of an arm and a leg, that could have been done. In person, this is a pretty nice loom. Shiney bit not overdone. Pictures may not have done it justice. We shall see.

Thanks!!

OH...and Matt..............I have NO IDEA what you just said!!
