Stainless Works 1 3/4 headers
When I took these headers out of the box, I knew they were going to be a joy to install. The assembly quality is amazing. I have now installed them. From start to finish I have about 4 hours in them. That includes removing the old ones!!!! They fit MINT. Best of all I did it on jack stands and didn't have to scratch the frame rails to get them in and out. I'll have a full article done soon!!!!!

There is not modification necessary. They are long tubes. By far the easiest headers I have ever installed on a mustang. And I've done a ton.

No need to put on new engine mounts?
Enough clearance for engine movement?

Mike, auto or stick and do you plan to dyno this mod? Did you put the procharger on yet? Thanks.
Yup, I do plan to dyno it. It is a stick car. It made 445 to the wheels with the procharger. I'm gonna turn the boost up and find out how much the stock block takes before it breaks. Looking for a fuel pump for it now as the stock one isn't enough. July issue of MM&FF will have the pics/dyno info from the procharger install... stay tuned.

Mike,
How much boost to get the 445 at the rear wheels? How long have you been running it this way? looks like the mustang will handle some boost after all.
The 445 is more then the Whipple is going to put out....and its cheaper....Sweeet.

I saw a write up on a 2003 cobra that added a twin screw whipple and 15 pound of boost making 690 hp on pump gas. They bought a lot of parts($14,000) from the ford racing catalog. How could that motor handle that. Is the new shelby steel block stronger than the 4.6 3V alum one? Thanks.

Mike, you need a set of BBR CNC Machined 3V Heads to go with that combo!
I have the Stainless Works 1 3/4 long tubes on order as we speak. I'm just waiting for them to show up. I also have their 3" full exhaust coming too. I can't wait! I'm curious as to what the actual dyno numbers will turn out to be.
Mike-So you actually installed it on jack stands? I was looking to use my neighbors car lift to install mine. Do you think it's necessary or would it make it any easier?
Come on Mike or Chad-give a fellow brother a little hint as to the HP increase!

BBR wants some good coin for those heads! I think I'll wait for cams and the such to be out before I mess with the heads. If your going to mod it, you might as well mod it right.

Already been in touch with BBR.
Deffinately you can do the headers on jackstands. At most you will have to jack it up a little extra for the passenger side. Nothing that a standard floor jack can't handle. The 445 came with 8psi and not a whole lot of timing. As soon as I figure out what to do for fueling I am going to turn it up and see what it takes to make over 500. Still with stock motor.
Mike
P.S. As for how long it's been together... about 100 miles. And I flog the crap out of it.

I spoke with them this morning. It looks like mine should be here next week. I was hoping to have them in before the GA NMRA Nationals. It'll be cutting it close to install and be sure of the correct tuning on a dyno.

Long tubes or shorties? What kind of gains are you expecting?
