Well, being 17 and driving a mustang, I dont think cops will be too friendly with the loud mouth on the car, so has anyone installed the Power Flo exhaust or have a sound clip?

Being 30 years older I have the same concern. Would this option be a "Happy Medium" or does this term merely describe the person who gets paid in a seance?

The SLP loudmouth is not really as loud as one might think. It has a great low RPM deep rumble and really doesn't get loud until you get in the mid 3500 RPM range. I would definately recommend the loudmouth due to the number of mustang owners in my area asking me daily what type of exhaust I have to get the sound it delivers. Rally turns heads and I have even had local cops stop me to talk to me about the car and comment on how good it sounds. Definately give it a shot friedmaster!!!!

The main problem for me is that if a cop sees hears it and doesnt like it, i wont be able to talk my way out of it because there is no mufflers.

Hmmm.

On the loudness - how loud are they? Does anyone daily - drive their '05 who has SLP loudmouths? I wouldn't mind it being pretty loud, but I don't want my neighbors to throw me out because I have to start my car up to leave at around 6am sometimes...

For example, my cobra has an offroad H-pipe and flowmasters, and it's too loud to start at 6am on a regular basis.

Edit: also, my '05 is an automatic, so it stays in the 2000 and lower range quite a bit unless I get on it.

I daily drive my Gt with the SLP loudmouth on it. I have to leave for work every morning at 5:30A.M. and hva had no problems with my neighbor. Also the law does not require the use of a muffler on an emission controlled vehicle. If you have any questions just check youe state's emission requirements friedmaster. I will say that the SLP is the best sounding exhaust I have owned. I had flowmaster and MAC in the past on my older fox bodies and SLP by far leaves them in the dust. Hope I helped a little.

Thanks guys . . . .

I read somewhere that there is some drone or resonance around 2000 rpm . . . . is this true?

my SLP loudmouth exhaust is the best exhaust I've ever had. It sounds so incredible on this car its insane. To answer the above post, yes there is a drone at 2100 rpms but its not terrible. Seriously, the most incredible sound I've heard from a mustang

edit - oh, and it isnt overwhelmingly loud. its very deep and beefy. if you get on it hard, it will be LOUD, but its easy to keep subdued to a sexy deep growl

Thanks for the input. Two more things . . . .

1. Does it require a tune?

2. In 5th gear what speed does 2100 rpm (the drone zone) put you at?

At 2100 RPM you should be doing 70 mph in 5th. I have seen on several boards where most are saying no tune needed.

Thanks Firedude, I appreciate your input!

Looks like that puts me in the "drone zone" 80% of my 150mi per day drive.

There's some decision making to do here . . . . . . . . mostly involving Shaker 500 volume settings . . . . :-)

you dont need a tune. Also, irregardless of what people are saying about exhaust on 05's not helping, my 1/4 mile time dropped a tenth of a second with it, with several tests.

As far as the drone is concerned...its honestly based on opinion. Yes, the drone is there at 2100rpm's, but I personally do not think its annoying or overly loud at all. But thats just one persons opinion. I will tell you two things for sure though:

1) the drone at 2100 is there, anything above or below that in that range, its nice and quiet.

2) annoying drone or not, when you go WOT, all is forgiven, because the car sounds like a freakin' MONSTER. Best sound ever from a mustang (large displacement 60's models excluded)

Ok, thanks . . . . .

I'm on board . . . . . grew up with "chambered exhaust systems" so I believe I have the picture . . . .
