300 RWHP seems like the first quest for a N/A motor. I hope to accomplish this with the mods listed above. Here is my math, lol

stock = 265 HP
Cai/tune = 285 HP
shorty headers = 293
O/R H pipe = 300-305

I tried to be conservative 300-310 would be nice

I guess it depends on the tune and how accurate it is.

 

Wouldnt long tubes give more gain than the shorty's? What about high flow cats or the combination of high flow cats and long tubes? I have to keep cats for emissions so if I cant have cats with LT's I'll have to look into shorty's myself.

 

You won't see much (if any) HP gain with shorty headers.

 

Yes, you can get LT headers with high flow cats on an H or X pipe. That's what I did (Catted H), for the same reason.

 

You can't just add up the individual claims. It doesn't work like that. Otherwise I'd be pushing 330 or so at the wheels with my setup. I picked up ~30 rwhp from LTs, UDPs and CMRC deletes installed all at the same time. By the individual method, I should have gotten 30, 10 and 10, respectively.

Shorties and an off road pipe may give you a nice sound, but it won't do much in the HP department. The stock ones by all accounts flow really well. Not like the 5.0s, where shorties were an instant 15-20 hp. Save money on the headers and exhaust and get the delete plates and UDPs. You'll be at an honest 290 or so, and better set up for adding longtubes next year when the mod bug strikes again.

I agree with you on everything you've mentioned, except for CMCV delete plates.. In which, according to Brenspeed's website, clearly state ! their recommened for vehicles running lower end gears, and for those who frequently race their cars. By removing the OEM tumble plates" you'll lose a little part throttle low end torque, but gain performance at WOT. Most cars see in the area of a 5 RWHP gain by using these plates at upper RPM's..However on the other hand ? Doug from Bamachip's, also did some dyno testing on them, and found them to produce 5-8 HP, in the mid to upper RPM ranges
