Ahh I see. Well that's still a good 20 hp increase which should be pretty noticeable. Well now I can correct my friend who has a 10 V6 mustang. Trying to tell me he is pushing 240 HP with dual exhaust conversion exhaust and CAI without a tune.
fdjizm, yeah I would love an increase like that.

I dunno...personally in my experience...installing a K&N CAI on my 06 GT made a noticeable difference in acceleration and what not. It did not have a tune either. Just the CAI, BBK Throttle Body, and axel backs. I never Dyno'd it but I could def tell a huge difference from stock with all that installed. Guys on here claiming that these mods do not add much...IMHO...may not have first hand experience with these mods. Their claims may just be from word of mouth...just my .02 cents...

Steeda's CAI w/Tune has shown an increase of 38HP and 30lbs of torque to the rear wheels. This is the one of the largest gains on the market. This is what Chris Johnson had to say about Steeda's CAI w/Tune:
"SCT has seen the highest horsepower and torque results while using Steeda's Cold Air Kit, over any other brand."
When you buy from Steeda you are getting the highest quality parts and best customer service we can offer. Our relationship with Ford Motor Company has helped us make some of the best parts on the market.

I got my tune and intake from the same place. I figured I would get better customer if I had any problems. I wouldn't get a intake without getting a tune at the same time. Best 550 dollars I have spent on the car to date.

I purchased a C&L street CAI that does not require a tune because I didn't have the cash to buy a handheld tuner at first. Ran without the tune for a short period of time and didn't notice much in gains via my butt dyno. Once I bought a SCT x3 and a custom tune that's when the changes were noticeable and it is well worth the $$
And there is a used C&L intake in the marketplace right now if your interested in running without a tune until you want to spend the cash.

dyno means rear wheel hp. 290 rwhp equals about 340-345 flywheel hp

Yeah I'll have to research all these CAIs. Seems to be a bunch of really good ones lol. I need time to save anyway because it seems like the best bet is to get everything at once.

Sorry for the delayed response but moved into a new place and dont have internet yet. Here is a link to my for sale ad. I got a CEL while I had the Mac filter on due to a lean condition. But if you get the tuner you can still get the free tunes and have some included and save quite a bit buying the CAI used. The only thing you would need is a heat sheild. I got one from C&L for about 30 bucks. $125 shipped if you want it.

I ordered online from Tillman. I didn't have a dyno done because after all these years of being out they have them pretty much dialed in IMO. I would buy the tuner and tunes from the same place. Have them install the tunes in the tuner and your good to go. There are several great tuners out there Bama, Brenspeed, tillman, steeda .....
I got mine for right around 550 for the intake, tuner and 3 tunes.

Those are some good numbers there,TJ. I can't help but notice on the baseline results how choppy both TQ and HP get between 4,000 and 5,000 rpm, but I see the Steeda tune took care of that . Since Steeda has close ties with Ford, does that mean your tunes are 50 state legal?

The CAI and tune is only legal in all 50 states if it is installed post sale. Since it is not CARB approved we can not put the claim that it is legal in all 50 state (installed on the car during sale of the vehicle).
It would require a CARB certificate in green states if it was being sold on the vehicle.
Let me know if this helps?
