I have been looking around for a few weeks and I am trying to get a list of short throw shifter options. I am starting to get brain mash and can't really make my mind up on this when I first started I went right to Hurst but i wanna keep the stock shifter boot and **** i just like the look they have. My 07 gt that I recently bought has some slight play in the stick while ita in gear which I haven't really got under it yet to look at it. Any who I am leaning towards a Barton short throw shifter. I will try to put the link on if I could it's not the most expensive one but I like it and heard they are pretty good. Would love the feed back and see if there are any similar or close to that in looks.

Dont know if I did this right lol
Thanks for the feedback
As I understand after a recent enough thread about this sorta thing... THE things to get for an '05-10 Mustang manual shifter is the Barton short throw, coupled with the Blowfish support bracket. I saved those two specific parts as links so I can remember exactly this, as I am planning on getting those soon(tm) myself. That's the word I heard, besides Thunderbird, these are the ones.
So yeah, I'm sayin' Barton, get it.
/Of course, people may have changed their minds, but I don't think so..
//And many others have better/different luck with these and others, so I'm sure they'll chime in.
///For what my words are worth on that, hope it helps!
I have a Barton and I love it. A lot of people say that the MGW shifter is better. I have the flat stick. If you want to use the stock **** you would have to get the round handle. https://bartonshifters.com/shop/ols/...m-style-handle Barton vs Stock shifter. I now have this **** from Nifty Shifters.
Thanks that's what I was looking at. I bought one of the shifter ***** that looked like the one you have and it just didnt feel right to me. Personal preference I guess. Looks great on your shifter though.
Ok well today I was driving my Gt to a golf tournament and bam the shifter flopped and was stuck in 4th gear, fun getting it home especially going uphill. Took both boots off and found that the linkage came apart. I was wandering if there was a simple fix to get by for the rest of the year until next spring. I'll attach a pic of what I found also I didn't get under it yet to really I investigate.
At first I'm like "How in the world did the thing fall off the shifter?! That's like... unpossible!
Then I figured out that the picture shows the shifter arm hanging from the shifter, and it's not attached to the transmission side. And then that got me in the right direction... and here: https://themustangsource.com/forums/...ll-out-528329/
There's your problem. Your bolt fell out on the transmission side. You'll have to acquire a new bolt. This page on Steeda's website shows the bolt at the transmission side. https://www.steeda.com/steeda-mustan...-555-7091.html
The three ways to get this is to go to Ford and order the bolt. Go to a salvage yard and acquire the bolt (and I'd get the arm, maybe the whole shifter, while I was at it). Go to a hardware store and have fun guessing which size it is. Whee and stuff on that one.
And when you put it back in, blue or orange threadlocker is recommended. Blue is standard for this kind of fastener situation, but this new orange stuff is supposed to hold like red but release like blue. I've been using it on my stuff, so if it doesn't do what it says, you'll know somewhere in here. So far so good, though, but I've not had to take the bolts out yet.
Well I finally made my decision. Last night I bought my self a MGW short throw. I liked the design and what it has to offer. I also like that you can adjust to throw on it to what you want.

Congrats on the MGW short throw.. I'm considering replacing my current Hurst short throw with either the MGW or Barton, but leaning more towards the MGW for it's design and can also adjust the throw to where you want it
Thanks it it has been a little while and since I finally got the bolt made for my transmission linkage and have that straightened out figured it was time. The MGW just appealed to me more than the barton even though I could have had the barton tomorrow. It was one of those couldn't sleep up at 1am kind of gotta have buys lol.

So that was when the "pin bolt" fell or broke? I had not seen that picture up there in post 5 until tonight, I thought at first the link broke.
Ok MGW said that the shifter is 4 weeks out from when I ordered it. Ugh now it's a waiting game. Sure it's worth it. Now i was going to keep it looking somewhat stock and stay with the stock shifter **** but i couldn't resist i chose two shifter ***** one from American Muscle and one from CJ pony. I really wanted the one from cj because i am trying to go with a black and blue theme but it was out of stock and I wanted to have it when the shifter comes in. So what I did was buy the one from american muscle and then the day after I bought that I got an email saying that the one I really wanted from cj was in stock lol so of course I bought that one also. Now have to decide which one I want to keep. Maybe you guys can help out. Here are the picks of the two. I think the one from cj is better quality because it's like a pool ball material and not a resin.
Ok got the MGW in yesterday and OMG what a difference. The side to side slop went away but it is a little stiffer than I thought. Will probably get a little more lose with time which is ok. I love that way the car shifts now totally different from factory. Just wanted to thank you guys for some sound advise on this. Also put some new rotors and brake pads on also. They are from Detroit motors drilled and slotted but pulled a boneheaded move and didn't realize it when I put them on but installed them backwards. the fins for the rotor are straight up and down just the way the slots are backwards from what I read it shouldn't hurt them until I get to flop them.
