Thumbs up

I'm new to tuning, so forgive me if this is a silly question.

Does the SCT tuner come with any tunes written by SCT? Or do you have to download them? I looked their site over, and it doesn't seem to me that they provide any tunes directly.

And yes, I've heard, Doug at Bama is the man. ^_^

Thanks!

If you buy the tuner alone they do not come loaded with tunes. If you buy the Tuner from Doug @ BamaChips, you tell him what kind of tunes you want and he pre-loads them when you buy the tuner.

OK, thanks.

Once you load a tune, does it permanently take up a "slot" or can it be erased and replaced?

I'm such a noob...darn you, OBDII and Ford!!! Where's my carb and throttle cable...

When you first plug in the tuner, it will RECORD and SAVE your factory tune. Then you select the tune you desire that you received from the tuner. It will then clear the Factory tune from the ECU and upload the desired tune you pick into the ECU. Once that is done, then you simply just start the car and go.

Now at any time you want to reflash to a different tune, same process, plug it in, it will clear the tune in ECU and download the other tune you desire. You can have up to (3) tunes in the SCT tuner.

If at any time you need to go into your Ford dealer for warranty work, simply plug the tuner back in and select the option, "Flash Stock Tune" and you car will be uploaded with the tune you got straight from the factory and Ford will never know you flashed a tune!!

But once the three slots are used on the SCT, can they be replaced by new tunes, or do you have to get another SCT tuner? Just wondering how careful I'd have to be in selecting the right tunes to download or get from Bama.

Nope, dont need to buy another tuner, if you need an updated tune, you can either have the new tunes E-Mailed to you by the SCT tuner and you can personally upload it in the slot that you want to replace a tune that you dont need anymore or you can send the xcal unit to the tuner and he will put the new tune in for you.
