Hey all,
Just wondering who has a throttle body on? I have been patiently waiting for BBK to release theirs. I have seen one other one on the market from MotoBlue, but I don't know to much about them. I remember a while back, there was a group by in for them I think. Anyway what are your opions with those who have them. Did you notice a difference right away? Those of you with the Motoblue, how is it working out for you?

I have a LFP TB...It didn't make a huge performance gain. It made the throttle response much better and makes the car feel like it has a good ol' throttle cable again. I am glad I installed it, many will dis-agree but it depends on you and what your looking for... If your expecting a 10 + HP gain look elsewhere... If you like a smooth, clean, more responsive accelerator pedal then have at it.

If this is the case, companies are really false advertising. They are posting gains of 10+ in HP. Not good.

I dyno'd Doug's LFP TB on my car, made like 1 hp. Looks good thought, and people say it makes a difference in throttle response. I would spend my $500 elsewhere. If you want better throttle response, get a Jet TBS. I have taken mine on and off a couple of times, and I can fell better throttle response with it on, even though it too, made no difference on the dyno.

That guy can't even get his story straight. In one part of the description he says 10-12rwhp, then further down he says 8.5rwhp. Maybe that explains why by the time it reaches your car it is only 1rwhp

OK This is JR Granatelli of Granatelli Motor Sports. This is my first post and as a manufacture of several Mustang parts I want to be able to add input without getting bashed. Perhaps I am jumping the gun but all too often these boards turn into an attackfest on the manufactures. With that said, we manufacture a billet 62mm twin blade throttle body with Bronze gears. BBK is a casting and from what I saw uses the stock plastic gears. I am sure when they come out they will be less money so if cost is the #1 concern perhaps you should wait.

However, I you are looking for a top quality part that does in fact make an 8hp peak improvement, then we got your back. I am surprised to read that a few of you said you did not see a power increase with Motoblue as their unit is very similar to ours.

As a matter of FACT. Not only is the peak increase 8hp but power under the curve was as hi as 10hp in some spots. Torque is the big surprise. Our T-body, as tested by 5.0 magazines, at a dyno shop 50 miles from here (Extreme Automotive) tested the t-body and made 22 ft/lbs increase between 3500 and 4500rpm. That is why everyone says it feels more throttle responsive - they feel the torque

We are also the same company that introduced the Coil on Plug coils and "0" ohm wires for the 2005/2006 3v. These are in stock and shipping so call ask ask questions and I will do my best to answer and educate everyone

Hey JR
What's the retail on your unit?
Does it really do anything to combat the PC's throttle lag??

JR,

First, welcome to TMS!

I DO have to ask some questions on your claims. Because the numbers you posted do not add up.

You claim an 8 hp increase at peak. That sounds perfectly resonable. Then you clain claim up to 10 hp increase below peak. Again, no issues.

Then you throw out that 22 ft-lb torque increase between 3500 and 4500 rpm. Red flag.

hp = torque * rpm / 5252.

So, at 3500

hp = 22 * 3500 / 5252 = 14.7 hp. this is almost 50% bigger hp increase below peak than you claimed.

at 4500

hp = 22 * 4500 /5252 = 18.8 hp over stock. That is almost double what you claimed as the below peak increase.

So, either the hp increases are actually a lot better than you claim, or the torque increases are a lot less (22 ft-lb) than you claim.

Sorry for jumping on a new guy here, but hp - torque claims are one thing that ALWAYS gets my attention. I don't know how many blatantly false dyno graphs I have seen over the years. It doesn't matter what type of dyno you use or brand, hp is calculated so it ALWAYS directly correlates to rpm and torque.

Again...just like I said to Mark from LFP on another board, I wish the vendors and manufacturers would start a thread with the tuners that are posting dyno sheets showing no gains. So far the only people I have seen that truly have positive feedback from these things are the people making them, the people selling them, and the people associated with those people.

I have seen this equation work in a lot of magazines, too:

hp = advertising dollars * rpm / 5252

Car was tested on a dynopak and I was not there. I can only report what 5.0 saw. We have tested here and seen 8 to 10 hp increases depending on the car and other changes. From what I gather the car tested by 5.0 was an auto trans and basically stock. I agree with your math so maybe it made more power down low. I have asked to see a copy of the data

JR,

I would love to see the graphs. A full data table would be even better...
