SCT X-2 How To
Just got my JLT-II and SCT X-2 from Doug. Great service thus far!
Would anyone mind giving me a quick run down of the steps to install a tune with the X-2? I didn't see anything on www.bamachips.com. I'm an engineer by day, so I'm pretty sure this is going to be a cakewalk, I just wanted to see if there were any "gotchas" with the 05-06 Mustang.
I can't wait to try the 93 Performance and Torque tunes with the JLT-II!!
TIA,
Matt

What would it cost me to do this? I need to buy the hand held device, correct? Then, I need to buy the tune from Doug, correct? I'm new to this tune thing so help me out. What would it cost me to do this. Will this help the throttle response?

If you buy the X2 directly from Doug, he'll load his tunes on it for you. Figure around $400 total (but contact him for an exact price). And yes, it will help throttle response! It's worth every penny!

Thanks for the reply's guys.
I figure if I program PLC's all day long, I can make a flash tool work
Is there anyway to backup the stock tune on a PC? My only concern is if the X-2 would ever fail, my stock tune may be lost.
Any thoughts?

not to hijack this thread but where does everyone get the 93 octane?
here in omaha we have 92 ( or 100 at $4+ per, at the pumps) but no 93??

Milwaukee, WI has 93 octane at every station. I prefer Mobil.

Broken in!??! I dare you to have the X-Cal 2 in hand and not itch to use it. I popped her in at with 600 miles in the car and grinned from ear to ear.

I more or less just want to get the "break-in" oil out of the engine before I start hammering on it. I know once I get the new tune in there I'll be driving it pretty hard

Doug has tunes for various octane mixes.

Not that I know of - you can only download to the X-2 from a PC, not upload to a PC from it. I think the stock tune is also specifically locked to your VIN#. My memory's fuzzy, but awhile back one guy on the SCT forums was asking someone to give him a generic stock tune for the very reasons you're asking. I think someone from SCT was able to give him one, but not sure about the whole VIN # thing. Maybe Doug or Brent knows?

You can always drive over to madison if you can't bumble it together. Couple madcity folks on here. Plug in xcal2, turn key, program pcu, turn key off, unplug. I'm sure I missed a push down button twice or something like that, but it's pretty easy and there will be a step by step sheet included with the xcal2.
maybe a little off topic but i am in omaha also and have an 05 GT vert and the only common gas i see is 91 octane? havent seen 93 - where are you getting the 92? just curious because i am not far from the cai and tune and probably will have to go with the 91.
thanks
thanks
