One could buy the C & L CAI and get a tune, but the Predator gives you the tune, plus lots of diagnostic goodies and tune parameter adjustments. It gave me what I wanted without too many promises that they could not keep.

Purchased with the CAI I'm sure either would work fine. I would not get a Predator unit alone at this time, they are still working bugs out of them.

I would base my decision on who your prefered tuner is and what they have experience with. I have both an XCalibrator (SCT) and Predator, and have run tunes from both. Seat of the pants, I cannot tell a big difference between the two.

I have the Xcal. I can completely program my car from my pc, if there is a pigeon turd on my left corner panel, there is an adjustment for that. Any other questions?

I agree. Find the person who is going to do your tune first and then decide based on what they like to use.

After reading others reviews, I have started to lean towards Predator. The main reason is I have a 97 T-Bird. The CEL has come on a few times recently. Since I plan on keeping the T-bird, I can use the predator to read the CEL problem on the T-bird and tune the mustang.

So far, I have not heard that SCT can do the same.

Is the Predator user adjustable?

I am bumping this thread. I am on the fence about which to get.

I like the idea of running software on a computer to adjust things. Which one would be better if I plan on getting more mods (as far as, which tuner is more user friendly). I know with the SCT, you can get updated tunes via e-mail when you get new mods?

anyone done this?

Hi Folks,

Do you know what parameters can be configured for the auto trans.
My experience is that the shift points and firmness change as I drive it, mostly city, the trans "learns" the driving style.
I keep disconnecting the battery, to get back to firm shifts.

So I have a ? can the firmness be changed via a flash?

Also besides the trans, what can be adjusted on the GT to help overall performance if the car is stock? I do not have any mods at this point.

i am going with the predator because of their history and user adjustability seems to be a bit better. I also posted that if anyone wants a good price on one call my buddy at Houston performance 713 943 7618 and tell Bob you know Chris from banks..he will cut you the best deal on the predator!

Yup- I ordered the Predator yesterday for $350 + $5 shipping. I am purchasing the JLT CAI, which I must say Jay from JLT was extremely helpful. He is not about just selling his product. Instead of just selling me the JLT CAI he told me to hold off until he had a tune for the Predator (hopefully next week).

Jay seems to be a stand up guy that just wants his product to represent itself. I hope it is all that and a bag of chips... I will definitely post my dyno results as I'm sure alot of people will be doing the same with the JLT & Predator soon.

Hopefully it will be a killer combo!!!

Cheers -Jay

Does the Predator allow you to get rid of the fly by wire lags?

I think the Diablo Predator programmer is a better deal...here's why...
1.) No set amount of tunes.
2.) You can tune it yourself.
3.) One time costs as long as you can do the tuning on your own (which it is pretty user-friendly), as opposed to S T where you can only tune 3 times and that has to be done at an SCT tuner.
4.) From the description it does everything the SCT does and more.

Just my 2 cents...

Sounds right to me, but then again, I've never used either one, but will tomorrow.

I got me Predator and used it yesterday. I put the standard 91 octane tune in and it rocks. I can definatly feel the performance difference. The throtle lag is gone and I get better gas mileage as a result.

It was easy to use. I even went back in later and used the menus to drop my idle down just under 600 RPM at idle. I'll be tinkering with this a bit.

I am glad I waited and got the predator.
