Not bad! As long as you already have an XCal or Predator, and a larger MAF, you're in good shape!!
Word, yeah...the MAF is the only thing I'm lacking...and those are pretty pricey I think... Maybe that gives the KB the edge.

Luckily I already have an XCAL2...

Ok, to be fair...lets say the price increases $700. Well, then it's total price is $4370 + $700 + $435 = $5505. Which isn't really that bad for what ya get. You get almost as much as the KB kit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the KB kit comes with everything I'm buying separately (smaller pulley, 39 lb injectors, BAP) plus a bigger MAF. Can anyone say how much the KB kit costs for comparison purposes?
To the best of my knowledge, KB also includes an XCal tuner and a CAI... and the list price will be around $5500-$5600. But, just like Saleen, it will be available for less than list price.

One more thing... personally, I think when it's all said and done, the Saleen and the KB (and eventually the Whipple) will all probably provide similar results for similar amounts of money. Unless we are willing to beef up the shortblock on these motors, the vast majority of us are going to be in the 400-450rwhp zone. Any of these SCs will get 90% of us to our goals.

As far as my decision to go with the KB, it boiled down to economics.

The Saleen's current suggested retail price is $5000 (until 12/31/05 anyway), and most people didn't pay retail. Well, neither will I for the KB. As noted previously, the KB unit comes with the 39# injectors, the mass air meter, the BAP, the CAI and a tuner. I would have to pay extra for some of those with the Saleen. Plus, I can sell my current C&L CAI and XCal, which further reduces my net cost.

But, there was one other big consideration for me. I also think my chances of getting the Shaker Scoop to fit with the KB is better than with the Saleen. With the Saleen, I would have had to shell out even more money to dramatically modify and repaint the hood. And I really don't want to give up my beloved Shaker! hehe. So, that was also a major influence in my decision.

All in all, it was a very difficult decision. I've been lusting after the Saleen SC for 6 months or so now. So not getting it after waiting all that time was tough... especially at the awesome price you got it for ($4370). Seriously, I was "this close" to ordering it last Friday for that same price.

But, when I added it all up (blower cost, additional parts, resale of my equip, and hood fabrication), I had to go with the Kenne Bell... it was just more cost effective for me in the big picture.

If I ever find out definitively that I could have saved some money with the KB, I'll just try to wash away any notion of buyer's remorse by quietly repeating to myself "inverted design, inverted design"...

LOL... no, you're in great shape!! You got an awesome blower and at an awesome price. In another week, no one will be able to get it for what you did!! I just tripped and fell into a once-in-a-lifetime-deal on the KB. It was kind of a promotional thing... I'm not even allowed to say what I will be paying.

Well the 05 is not listed, but the 9 psi kit for the Mustang runs 6,399 to 6,799 MSRP ... this appears to be a complete kit with innercoolers, injectors, pump et al. I would imagine an 05 kit would be in this range.

Not sure where I saw but I think the Whipple is somewhat less for a complete turn key kit.

That figures. Saleen was at the top of my list but just fell to the bottom. What a way to loose a ton of potential customers. Come out with a great product at a price that I can almost afford and then raise the price. The price of these SC systems is getting a little ridiculous IMO. :nono:
If you can be patient, in a year or two all of the S/C's will be cheaper.

That's a good idea if you have the willpower... I don't. LOL

I still prefer the look of the Saleen unit over the KB unit as I like the more "Factory" look of the Saleen. I also think that there will be little preformance differences between Saleen, KB and Whipple units. The Saleen may have a little more torque at the bottom due to the longer runners, and the KB and Whipple may have a little more "Future" potential.

However, I am a little irritated with Saleen in how long htey have waited to ship my Unit. I ordered it on Nov 18th and it still has not shipped....

I wanted to buy through my local speed shop so I could get one stop shopping for the SC, Installation and tune...

I guess I should have bought the unit from someone who had them in stock as Saleen does not appear to be very reliable about shipping things when they say they will....

I am giving them until the end of the first week in Jan. At that point, if it has not arrived, I will ask my Dealer if he can cancel the Saleen and get me a KB kit... I think that my dealer would prefer to work with the KB kit anyway....

I guess it is also possible that I am just being a little too impatient, but "I WANT IT NOW..." :bang:

I'd prefer he work with either one so long as it gets done, so I can come see it

The Saleen does look very nice indeed. The ones I have seen in person are sweet. But, in my case, the Shaker Scoop will hide most of the blower anyway. hehe

Just checked the Whipple site. Knew I saw this somewhere. Forgetting about polish vs black they will offer 3 kits, one not intercooled, the other two intercooled. The latter two kits are effectivelly 4,990 (8 psi) and 6,000 (10 - 12 psi) each. The way the kits are described it's difficult to make a direct comparison to Kenne Bell's kits, as as I qualified in earlier message he does not have a 05 listed in his price sheet, but he does in his spec's. Since the prices I indicated in the earlier message are fror the 32V Cobra motor, the 24V motor might be closer in line with the 16V motor which run from 4,899 (6 - 14 psi) to 5,399 (9 - 20 psi). Keep in mind the KB kit does not include the optional 90 mm TB.

I don't Know,

I'll call the week of the third to set an install/tune date. I think it will be befre dyno day, but I don't know how busy they are right now. There are probably a lot of xmas gifts waiting to be installed.

Im going to let Tim do what ever he thinks is the best tune and setup for the car...

400rwhp would be nice, but I do not know if that is possible at 4-5psi and the auto trans....

I would not go to the 6-8psi setup unless the stock internals are replaced with forged ones...( and I do not want to do that right now )
