Saleen Supercharger
I dont know how many out there were wanting to supercharge their cars, however I have seen a few out there posting the idea and looking for the new whipple or kennebell or the saleen as possibilities, and I thought I may as well post what I have gotten in response to inquiries from saleen.
First and most important is that they are available now on a build to order basis taking about 4 weeks.
Second is that they are available for both the manual and automatic transmissions
Last is that they are only running about 4-5 lbs of boost and are reported (by saleen so take it for what its worth) to be completly safe for all stock components.
Oops, almost forgot what some might consider the most important part, the gains. Their website says in excess of 400 hp and 420 ft/lbs tq, that is for the manual transmission. The automatic transmission will have slightly less, approximately 20 hp less, no comment made as to what the drop in torque will be.
email replys are below so you can read exactly what they said.
first one:
Hello there Butch,
We do offer a full Supercharger Kit for the Automatic Transmission. It would be slight less horsepower; probably a 20hp difference to make sure it is a safe setup for your vehicle. The internals will not be a problem, as long as you don’t modify the pulley on the blower to make more boost. The kit is designed to make optimal power with only 4-5 lbs of boost, the factory internals with those boost levels will not be a problem. If you have anymore questions please give us a call at 800-888-8945 Ext. 811. I will be more then happy to further assist you.

Hey there Butch,
The Superchargers are on a “Build to Order” Basis. If you were to order one, it would take about 3-4 weeks to receive. The Manual and Automatic kits are the same except for the Tune on the PCM and there’s an additional inlet tube for the Automatic setup. The Kits are pretty much identical. The prices for both the Manual and Auto are going to be $4999.99. Not bothering me at all, I would be doing the same thing, asking the exact same questions if I was in your shoes, this Supercharger is definitely going to be the best route to go with for any of the 05-06 Mustang GT’s. Only 4-5lbs of boost very turn key, absolute blast to drive, very street able, and most important of all, its SAFE.
Like I said, if you have any questions at all, give us a call at 800-888-8945 Ext. 811 or simply reply back to this message.

Replys to email were pretty fast and the guy seemed willing to help and tell me whatever i wanted to know. the only downside is that the kits are pretty pricey, though i guess that they are still in line with the projected prices from the others making the twin screw superchargers (take a look at what kennebell and whipple are projecting their's to cost).
Not promoting this one really, just trying to add some info to what some have been looking for.

Looks like I've talked myself into a Procharger. I had a Borla cat-back system installed last week and now my car sounds faster than it is. (Before the exhaust it was faster than it sounded!) This just won't do! I justify it by telling myself that at 41, I'll soon be an old fart and won't have the reflexes to keep it on the road. Better do it now, right?
After talking with ATI and others, this motor should be safe up to low 400's for HP at the wheels. Apparently parts start to leave the block at 450 or so. I think I could live with 420 RWHP.
They're telling me 2 weeks for delivery. My installer/tuner is the problem. He's pretty busy and probably won't get me in until after Xmas! :bang: I could possibly die waiting.

i'd say go saleen, how fast can a BBQ Go?

Hmmmm.... with 420 horses it may be cheaper to go BBQ... less tickets that way.... (grinning)
Since installation of the Saleen is beyond my talents, I'll have to pay a shop to do it. Anyone have any idea what a ballpark amount for that chore is?

I actually got a pdf of the install instructions from someone if you wanna look them over.
If I did end up going this direction next year, I think my brother and I were gonna self install.....
I had a local shop quote the Saleen installed for about $6,500.00. This is with a custom tune ( xcal 2 ) and 39lb injectors....
The best price I have found on the complete Saleen kit is $4800 at:
http://www.superchargersonline.com/product...0-1607-B11313-A
The Saleen unit does come form the factory with excellent illustrated instructions. It even shows you which tool you will need for each task.
The harders part is probably removing the front clip to install the heat exchanger for the intercooler. You also have to splice and solder a couple of wire connections. The rest of the install is fairly easy...
The Saleen power tune that comes with the kit is tuned for 91 octane gas. My local installer tells me that with a 93 octane tune and 39lb injectors, the car makes 400hp at the rear wheels at 4-5psi boost with a manual trans.
He said the auto would of course be a little less. ( Maybe 350-360 at the rear wheels )
I am having a tough time trying to decide on doing it myself or paying to have it done. I really like the idea of a custom tune with ANY SC application, but the Saleen tune is 50 state EPA approved and the air police are getting very strict here in the Atlanta, GA area. I also think the local installer will do an excellent job with the car as he seems to have a lot of experiance.

Actually if you have some basic wrench knowledge, I don't think doing this yourself would be too far outta chance.....

I'm just worried about the high content of plastic/aluminum present in the current iteration of the 4.6 3v... It's not like the old days where you could easily recover with a Helicoil if you screwed up.
Burke0011, I'd be interested in seeing that PDF file. I know that the Saleen instructions that came with my HID kit were somewhat cryptic and had one glaring factual error - not enough to flummox me but someone that really didn't know vehicle electrical systems would probably have been left scratching their head. (DKII is BEAUTIFUL BTW...)
sranger, taking the clip off is no big deal! (GRIN) Already had to do it once to install the HIDs, I am sure I could do it now in my sleep...
I have been following many, many threads on the Saleen SC over the past few months, and I have pretty much decided to tackle the install myself. Installations costs look to run between $1000 and $1500 (or more), so I'll save that money for other goodies. I've read from several guys who did the install themselves, and they provided some very good insight into tips, tricks and traps.
I have also heard virtually nothing good about the base Saleen-supplied tune. It seems to only work on an otherwise stock car... if you have a CAI, for example, it will run dangerously lean. And, you need to send your computer to Saleen to modify. Not going to work for me...
So, I'll be looking to use a different tune... most likely one from JDM to start with. They are now getting up to speed with tuning the Saleen SC with an auto tranny. In fact, just yesterday, JDM posted this at Modular Fords.
Note: The two cars JimIII mentioned made 438 and 436rwhp, resectively, with:
Saleen blower
39# injectors
90mm mass air with harness
JDM air kits
Full exhuast
410 gears
custom JDM tune

We have some really awesome tuning going on for the 05-06 Auto cars with Saleen blowers, We have had 3 cars in the shop get the Saleen installed on an auto car. One with [the stock Saleen] pulley made 396 HP at the tire. Thats just the Saleen kit, our custom tune, 39# injectors, 90mm maf, and our JDM air kit. The other two cars which I mentioned above [see note below] made in the 430 and 440 range with a 3.4 pulley. That created 9.5 psi. My Dad took one of the cars to Englishtown the other day and ripped off a 11.8 in the 1/4 mile, that car is full weight at 4000 with him in it! We have some really nice tunes for 93 and 100 octane, we are still working with our 91 octane tunes but it is not an issue we are just in the process of working with our first one. Look for an article in a few months in MM&FF about the saleen auto car we tested and tuned. There will be a nice write up on it.

I was at the track last week and a local guy showed up with a supercharged Saleen. for what the car cost it didn't impress me. I run 12.69 @ 109 with a cai, predator 93 tune and JBA Longtubes on Drag Radials. He was running about the same on the same tires and suspension.
What did impress me at the Fun Ford Weekend in Epping NH. was the JDM Engineering 05 which ran 11.69 with their headers, pulley, injectors, throttlebody, mass air on a saleen blower and custom tune.
If I were to go blown JDM would be the way to go
Unless.................... Kenne Bell?????????
