I don't think you should get it ..... How would I get in touch with your friend?

Seriously though, If you are looking for max power, the Saleen is not going to do it from what I have read here. If you are looking at bang for the buck, at your price, it is unbeatable ... IMO.

I honestly don't see what your dilemma is.. Sounds like one hellova deal!! I would say hurry up before he changes his mind and see if he has any more while you are at it..

Any twin screw can make as much power as the stock internals can take, the Saleen just so happens to be the coolest looking/ most innovative. At around a grand, you can't afford NOT to buy it.

I agree, get the **** thing, install it, then worry about upping the boost later.

The reason the Saleen s281 'only' makes ~430 hp is that is runs with low boost, about 4 psi. It makes puts less stress on the engine, which is important when it's factory warenteed, but if you could up the boost, you'd be able to increase the power too (Keep in mind that the S281 has an intercooler too, water-to-air i believe). The KBs can net more power and torque, but obviously with higher pressure. I'd definitely grab the Saleen if I could. If nothing else you could just resell it if you change your mind.

I don't see the "Delima"....If you truly can pick up a new Saleen S/C'er for an 05 for a grand you would be a fool not to...As far as potential it has just as much as the Kenne Bell. I am as far as I can go on the stock block and that's at about 9.5 lbs of boost. You can run a 10% overdrive crank pulley and a 3" blower pulley and spin up 16 lbs of boost. With a little snout machining you can go beyond that. How far do you really want to go? My next pulley is going to cost me about $8,000 dollars...Picking up a Saleen for 1k is a drop in the bucket in the long run I would say.

If you really don't want it, buy it then sell it for more money.

The Saleen is definitely the louder of the two for whine...I have an audible whine at idle that gets louder as RPM's increase. The KB is almost whisper quite for those that like the "sleeper" approach. I love the whine and the blower sounds in general, it is simply wicked. I can't speak for the Whipple as it's not out and has been delayed a ridiculous amount of time but I woulds imagine it will be loud as well...

I believe the smallest pulley for now is a 2.8" pulley. I have a 3.4" pulley and that's about as small as you will want to go with a stock bottom end. After I get my built shortblock done, I'm going with 2.8" and a 10 % overdrive crank pulley and should be able to get 18-20 lbs of boost. I'm going to run a 150 shot of nitrous with it, to get me where I want to be...

8 rib pulley set-up's are starting to come out for the Saleen blowers and new belt tensioners are around the corner as well. I believe that the Saleen will be very competitive with the other two companies when the high boost wars commence.

Hope this helps...

Justin
