Saleen Installed
It was a long week waiting for my Saleen to be installed and I have been preoccupied with that rather than the boards. Car is finally home and I was able to get pictures and movies after work today. The blower was installed and tuned by Eric Swarr of Swarr Automotive in Collegeville, PA. Eric is a super nice guy and a great shop (with great prices to boot!). He never tried to push or sell anything I didn't need nor did he try and push me towards what he thought the car should be. We sat down and discussed what my goals were with the car and I think we achieved that.
My current setup is listed in my signature. Final dyno numbers were 413.1 rwhp and 393.2 tq on a DynoJet. I asked for a conservative street tune and I think he kept it right where it should be for a daily commuter. I am thinking of going back and getting an aggressive tune for the few times I go to the track or just want to have "fun" .
Initial driving impression...let's just say my pants got tight instantly! It is an incredible feeling driving this car. I love how the blower sounds when you start to get into it. Now I have to find a way to get some traction. I know the stock tires were getting beat, but I have a feeling after the weekend, they will be a memory
All videos are about 2MB long encoded with Windows Movie Maker. Mrs. Pumpkinfish was pestering me to drive the car so I allowed her to perform all the stunt driving. You can tell she is afraid of the car but she will settle down eventually, plus she is not good at burnouts…lol!
Enjoy the movies and photos!

I was using my digital camera for videos. So it isn't the best setup for sure! All videos that I have taken with it have a weird "hiss" to them. Must be a cheap mic built in.
As for graph, I have no clue why they did that. I plan on getting pulls on another dyno to see what they show. My installer is getting his own dyno this spring and was borrowing that one. So I am sure he was under the gun to do what he had to and roll so he didn't interfere with the shop he was at.
Total cost for gears and blower install was $1500 plus the dyno time. Seems to be inline with other quotes I have seen. Biggest thing to me was I have no where to work living in a townhouse without a garage!

Congrats over here too, John (I already replied at ModFords. )

P.S. Any tips on convinving MY wife this is a good idea?

Get her hooked on drag racing. After my wife made her first runs at the track, she was already wanting to go faster.

I'll have to try that. First I'll get her hooked on the drags (she already likes that TV show PINKS) and get a blower and some long tubes. Then I get her into autocross for a suspension setup and new tires. Might be less effort to just order everything and explain it (with apologies) as a mid life crisis.

I can't tell from the pics (I'm just not that familiar with cars yet), how did you do your vac lines? Brake booster alone; FP transducer tee'ed to bypass line going into boost actuator port? Or brake booster tee'ed with FP transducer; bypass line going into boost actuator alone?
Anyways, nice!! I'm jealous.
I dropped my car off at my buddy's last night but it was too late to start. We're going to start my install after work tonight.
I should be in the "blown" club with yall by this weekend...

Nice car and nice vids. Aren't you going to need new tires now too?

I needed tires before the install

Shoot me a pm with your e-mail address and I'll take some really big closeups and e-mail them to you.

Thanks for posting those videos. I hadn't yet heard the whine of the twin screws. It was not objectionable from inside the car. I already just love the gear whine as you wind this engine up and the supercharger/intake whine would just be icing. I'm afraid it might cause me to end up with unnecessary tickets though.
