I used Hawk HPS pads. Not much dust and no noise to date.

Hey Joe,
You can get the Centric pads from Rotorpro. Just order them with the rotors. Piece of cake. That's how I got mine.

Just one thing that you may want to condsider adding... how to install new brake pads. It may seem like a trivial task, but the rears are a pia without the right tools!

I finally got around to installing my Rotors yesterday. Took the long route up front by remove the caliper first then the mounting bracket. No big deal really. I actually stayed with the stock pads since they are still essentially brand new with only 8k miles on them. I did have to compress the front caliper pistons slightly to get them back on. What a PITA it is dealing with the dual piston setup. Thankfully with the rears no compressing was needed even though i did have the tool needed to do so. Releasing the parking brake gave enough slack to get them off and on easy. I did reference Bills write up but only for the torque specs. I have a lot of this type of info in pdf. form but for some reason I had no specs on the rear bolts.

Something that will help with holding the caliper up so it does not hang if you do not have a little helper like Bill did, is to use another jack stand. Thankfully i have many of those and simply set on in the fender area and then let the caliper rest on it. Not sure what the deal was on mine with the rear caliper bolts but dam were they stiff coming out and going back in. Even after i cleaned the bolts and threads out. Also on my passenger side rear i could barely get a ratchet onto the lower bolt. Seem the brake line is right on top of it and had very little clearance. I could not even get the ratchet off when removing the bolt. I had to put the bolt back in far enough to allow the ratchet to then be removed.

Went out for a small drive today and had a terrible burning smell when i started getting the brake warm. Must be burning off all the residue which i do not understand because i gave the rotors and pads a good spraying down with Brakleen prior to installing.

Question for you Rotorpro owners.... how many of you didn't paint your rotors? I received mine today and am debating whether or not I need to paint them. Also I received replacement Centric pads- any tips for the install (special tools needed, etc.)?

I painted. Heard of too many poeple having there rotors rust.

 

Oh I should add, those of you that DID paint them, what did you use.

 

Some Hi-Temp engine paint from the local napa store. Nothing fancy. I also did it in clear.

Never painted mine or swapped pads. PM Tom1, he painted his Rotorpros.

 

What are these folks painting exactly? The centers so that they don't lock onto the hub or something?

 

Ill be using some of the caliper paint(black) to paint the slots, and the beveled edges on the holes, along with the outer edge of the rotor about 1/4" of the outer diamter, and possibly the outer(top) of the rotor where the cooling fins are.

 

The rotor in general, so that you don't develop rust in the drilled holes or slots.

 

Never painted mine and they look good still.

The advice I was given was to just wash like usual but spray nothing on them or wipe them down with a towel (would remove the zinc coating) looks good so far. I think I have had them for a month now
