Went back to the Dyno today, (same shop as before) to see how the new tune from C&L would do. The best pull on the original tune was 304.1 RWHP and 325.3 RWTQ. I made it richer by 2% on both fuel tables (at WOT), because I got a lean code, and was worried it was do to the Longtube's. The first pull today was the original tune with the fuel added and it showed on the Dyno, 297.5 RWHP and 315.0 RWTQ. :bang:

I then flashed the revised C&L tune w/Predator and came up with 310.2 RWHP and 329.4 RWTQ. The spark advance at WOT was 31 deg, so my tuner added 2% of timing to both spark advance tables. That resulted in a final pull at 312.8 RWHP and 331.7 RWTQ, at 32-33 deg spark ADV at WOT, and the A/F ratio's stayed at 12.9:1!

I spent about an hour at the shop, and was very happy with the result's! That would put the gain of the new tune (comparing the best pull's) at 8.7 RWHP and 6.4 RWTQ just on a better tune. My tuner said over time he would be able to get more out of it after he analizes the data.

That would put the total C&L gain around 30 RWHP and 26 RWTQ. I also installed my BMR lower control arm's and what a difference they make!! No wheel hop what so ever! I'm going back to the track this Friday and with the tip's I picked up here, a few extra ponies, and no more dreaded wheel hop, hopefully I can put down some better time's.

Looking over your dyno graph, was your revised tune specific to the long tube headers?

No, it was just the updated C&L intake tune. We also added 2% of timing, the A/F ratio stayed at 12.9:1 at WOT, so we left the fuel table's alone for now. I'll be keeping a close eye on the A/F ratio's, expecially with the heat out here. Summer is a come'in :bang: I could probably get a little more HP if I went to 13.1-13.2:1, but I want to play it safe.

Now those are some awesome numbers Justin! Can't wait to see what you lay down at the track. Sounds like the next mod is seat time adjustment.

I am confused. (doesn't take much sometimes - I am Polish )

You originally went to get your car tuned. Then changed/revised the C&L tune, and brought it back to the tune shop.

Couldn't the tune shop adjust your car like the revised C&L tune. I thought that is why a car was brought to a dyno shop, to get the best performace out of it, and find the little tweaks.

Why pay for that just to get a revised tune from a manufacturer. Shouldn't the first shop tune found the same adjustments as the revised C&L tune?

I am not try to be a jerk, just trying to understand why a manufacturer makes a tune, then you still need to take it to a shop to get it tuned again.

Klushi,

I think the single biggest reason is that most people do NOT have a wide band O2 sensor, therefore they can not accurately read the A/F mixture. He has a large selection of hop ups on his car and there IS no stock tune that is designed for his combo, so he put it on the dyno where they can see if the tune is producing the power AND see if it is staying safe.

In his case, it was so they did not have to do much to it other than add a bit more ignition timing. There is a possiblity that he could have been running lean with the extra air flow he should have with the exhaust he is running. That would have been bad. Better safe than sorry.

If you have a stock car and add a single specific hop up (one that affects air flow anyway) and you use a tune that was designed for that hop up (the C&L tune and Jay's JLT tune come to mind), then you should be pretty safe without dynoing it. But when you have multiple upgrades and they do affect the airflow, you might want to find a dyno to VERIFY that you are safe.

great explanation, rrroamer. Yeah Vegas definitely has too many mods for any of the canned tunes to deliver ideal performance. Custom is the only way to go. Has anyone posted 312 to the rear wheels yet? I think he may be running point right now

How do you know if you have the revised C&L tune or not. I just got my Kit From C&L on Monday and Installed it yesterday. Could mine be the revised tune. Is there a number or something to let you know. I not good at all this downloading from C&L website stuff. I can plug in the predator and answer questions though. How would I get the revised tune to the hanheld predator if mine is not the revised tune. Sorry for all the questions. I'm just not up on all this technical stuff.
