Results : SCT Xtreme Software Tested
#1
We took the most recent file, exported it to the file format needed for the SCT Xtreme software. My tuner, Andre, then changed the Shift parameters to make 1-2 shifts FIRM. We made the changes, saved the settings and uploaded it to the XCalibrator.
It seemed to all go well - so I uploaded the XCalibrator into my Stang. Well, first off, there was no firm shifts and it reverted my tune back to some type of base tune - which left my car running like poop So, I then had my tuner, Andre, re-upload my good tune to my XCalibrator via his normal Dealer software and I was back to normal.
Per Ryan at SCT, these are known issues and they are coming out with a new version of the software ASAP. So be patient and be careful with the Xtreme software.

To quote someone from another forum
"There is a new version that is going to be updated on the website shortly.
once it is updated, I will post to let everybody know it is available."
So it shoudl be soon. When it is, I will post again.

Be careful with the "EXTREME" software equates to don't use the just released extreme programming at this point guys.....Those of you with Xcalibrator's should still feel very confident using it, but should hold off on adding the additional programming they are working on in their extreme tuning package for now anyway...I was there to see the hp decrease with the new flash for the shifts and it was a bit scary....lotta time invested in getting that tune right and it was painful to see the new software package hurt it like that......glad it all worked out by the time we left and they were able to get most of the power back.......These car's are really finicky, so patience with the good people of SCT is a big key in having them help us get our stangs where we want them to be...

Thanks! Is that with just the 87 octane tune? I'm not gonna change much for now, I'll wait for the aftermarket guys to figure out what's going on with these things. It doesn't look like much of the bolt on stuff is doing anything to jump about. Kinda disapointing, maybe Ford got all they can out of this motor. 300 hp is alot for a 281. I'm still waiting for mine and I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with it. I don't want to go and spend $100 everytime at the dyno when a new tune comes out.

I have had the X-calibrator for a month now and have not even had one successful flash yet. My tuner has been talking with SCT, they were convinced that this has not happened to anyone else and were certain that I was not performing the flash properly. I can assure you that the process is so simple that a monkey could do it. During the attempt to flash my car the message center on the car interrupts the process and flashes "Engine Failsafe Mode," immediately after that the X-calibrator flashes the code for "Unlock Failure." After discussing these items with my tuner he replied that it might be a hardware issue and inferred that I could have to send it back for a new one. Ever get the feeling that if it can happen, it will, and it will happen to you? Good luck guys, I know I need it. :bang:

It would happen to me dude! ECU involved or not this car will go 12's without a power adder or slicks or I will put rocket on it!

Mini-FAQ for you.
It is NOT very good software.
It IS supposed to be supplanted by QuickTune 2005.
You MUST have XTR files from your tuner shop in order to use it (it will NOT read your car, it will NOT read the XCalibrator. It is only used to push programs INTO the XCalibrator.
2005RedGT has had numerous struggles with it when he's tried to modify an existing XTR configuration (timing, etc.)
It is supposed to be safe to push your XTR into the XCalibrator if you aren't messing with the XTR. But if you aren't messing with the XTR, you don't need Xtreme Tune (unless, of course, your tune shop is sending you new tunes after having sold you the unit previously.)

The rep should have the correct Tuner software. Thesoftware we are speaking about is the one for the end users - you and me. The normal Tuner software is fantastic as well as the SCT Xcalibrator. You should have no worries about that. Now, him being trained is a whole new issue however, I will assume any dealer that paid for the TUner software must know what they are doing or they would be wasting thousands of dollars on the softwar4e alone.
