Removing the trap in the air intake

Nope...all you want to do is follow the information in the manual about disconnecting the battery. I believe you'll want to disconnect the battery for approx 20 minutes...while that's sitting you can remove the trap. hook the battery back up, start the car and let it idle until the engine temp is up to normal, then turn the a/c on and drive for about 10 miles..that will make the computer adjust for it being removed. I did it myself and have had no problems.

got me..but it's on page 205 from the manual...here's a copy of the text...
"Because your vehicle’s engine is electronically controlled by a computer,
some control conditions are maintained by power from the battery. When
the battery is disconnected or a new battery is installed, the engine must
relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy for optimum driveability and
performance. To begin this process:
1. With the vehicle at a complete stop, set the parking brake.
2. Put the gearshift in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral
position (manual transmission), turn off all accessories and start the
engine.
3. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
4. Allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
5. Turn the A/C on and allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
6. Drive the vehicle to complete the relearning process.
• The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles (16 km) or more to
relearn the idle and fuel trim strategy.
• If you do not allow the engine to relearn its idle trim, the idle
quality of your vehicle may be adversely affected until the idle
trim is eventually relearned.
When the battery is disconnected or a new battery installed, the
transmission must relearn its adaptive strategy. As a result of this, the
transmission may shift firmly. This operation is considered normal and

I never did this when i removed it.Ran just fine.

HC trap was the first mod I did because it didn't cost me a penny. I didn't even disconnect the battery. I just removed the trap, hooked the tube back up and away I went. Never had a problem after that, well, at least not because of the trap.

I really didn't notice anything. I have just ordered a diablo predator & I will be ordering the JLT CAI once Jay gets some stock in...he's waiting on some parts that will be in on May 9th. I'm sooo excited to try the tuner & CAI!!

Call me crazy but I swear I have just a tad bit more power down low after remove the HC trap. 
And just last weekend I made a trip from Baltimore to Pittsburgh and got 24 mpg...and I'm a left lane driver

How do you remove this thing? I took apart the tube going into the air filter to check out this trap and it's really wedged in there and wouldn't budge. Do you have to cut it out or something?

needle nose pliers, some yanking, and a bit of patience. Grab the outer edge of the HC trap with the pilers and just slowly work it out. Once you get it out from behind the rubber lip it will get easier and easier.

How's this for odd . . . my car doesn't have the trap! I was feeling the hose, and there is nothing in it. So I pulled the air box lid off, and I can't see anything in the hose. Anybody else with recent build dates check?
