Yes, the summer Nero's are awesome tires as long as the temps don't get down to freezing or below.

Or anywhere even close. Look for 255/50's as good replacements for what you have now. They're as close as you're gonna get to stock OD ( 2/10 of an inch) and will be a little wider.

Your choice should be based on driving conditions. If you drive in snow then you want the best All season rated high for snow. If you will only be driving in dry conditions then get a true ultra high performance tire. If you drive in all weather conditions then it's a trade off for traction vs performance.

the only half decent tire there seems to be in 255/50/17 is the Nitto 555

For what its worth, the KDW2s are much louder running than the Goodyear F1 GSDs- which are super-performing rain tires- but since you are in CA, not sure if that is important really.

I like the Conti Sport Contact 2s. I have run all three "summer" types and I am a pretty hard driver with less than 50K.

I have Kumho Ecsta ASX 255/50/R17 on mine. Big improvement over stock but I have no idea how it compares the KDWS

I am running those right now for winter....they are cheap and are OK....i spin the crap out of them compared to the 285/40/18 KDW2s i have for most of the year but I do not drive that car that much in the cold winter weather.

I'm not going to argue that, but you do get what you pay for with tire (however I gotta add Michelins aren't some sort of oh my gawd I can't believe it sort of tire. People who purchase them expecting the second coming of christ because of price generally are very disappointed). I buy mine at Costco (can be comparably shopped at Tire Rack) so I dont get gouged on the name.

Nitto also makes the NT450(All Season) in 255/50/17. Overall diameter is 27.03 compared to 27.09 for the NT555(Summer). Stock diameter is 27.
