Rear Gear / Auto Trans Question

The wifes '07 GT/Cs has Auto Trans & limited slip rear end, it is not 3:55 or 3:31 from factory.
Can anyone tell me the ratio?

Reason why, I asm looking at a trans convertor swap and gear swap also at the same time.
Saw convertor in MMFF magazine, supposed to be especially for S197 Auto's and have acess to 3:55 complete rear end out of '06 GT 5-spd car.

Thanks,

TDS - The "OLD" moderator.

All auto's come with 3.31's. Manual's came with 3.55's from 05-07 but know they come with 3.31's unless you ask for the 3.55's.

Unless it is aftermarket, it's 3.31.

Theres a way to calculate your ratio by jacking up the rear, rotating the tires and counting the driveshaft rotations. I used this method on a stang I bought a few years ago. I just dont remember exactly how it works now. Maybe someone else will chime in or I can get my brain working.

OK, I've tried the jacking up and counting crap, but what I am concerned about is the tag on the rear end housing.
Keeping this under wraps until I get proof.

And the plot thickens...

Are you saying that you believe what is actually in the rear end is not what should be there? Or that it is mislabled? The tag on the rear end will say what ratio it is, or at least what it should be.

There's only a couple options! and if its not a 3.31 your trans is probably programed wrong!

OK,
The tag on this rear end, says 3.28?
The white piece of paper around one of the axle tubes says 3.28 on it.

I thought that 3:31 were standard 5-speed unless ordered with the 3:55's
although the '05 / '06' 5 speeds had 3:55's only.

TDS

Calling Ford tomorrow and asking where the HE!! are my 3:31's?

Took the car to the local dealer, had them lift it and check it out, they were scratching their heads for a while. They contacted Ford Rep, she is coming by to look one day next week.

Ford's first response, "It must be a typo on the tag, they removed a piece of paper from under the hood insulation, possible "Build sheet" maybe, then copied it and put it back attaching it to the hood with scotch tape before replacing the hood insulator and re-attaching it.

Will post more when I know it.

hey tds, which part under the hood insulation was the build sheet at? i would like to see mine, but i dont want to have to tear off the whole insulation to find it. thanks in advance.

that is strange about it being a possible "typo". i would think that they are all pre-printed. why only one would say 3.28 is beyond me. very curious about what they find out.

They removed the push pins that hold the upper part of the hood insulation, pulled it down and removed the sheet.

They did not tear up the insulation, I was told that it is located in different locations depending on build time.

However it was in the same spot on my 2007 Edge also, I looked and found it there.

The Ford Rep and myself had a meeting yesterday, He says that 3:28 is an export only rear end, does not know how it ended up in our car.

Ford is offering new rear end completely, or they say they will swap ours for the 3:55 rear end thats in the garage floor (out of '06 GT 5speed).

Otherwise I'm getting 3:31 unit from Ford.

Why would you not want to swap for the 3.55 if its free anyway?

I already own the 3:55 rear end in my garage, they are offering to install it.
If I let them warranty it, I get a 3:31, I already know I am going with the 3:55.
