Question Rear Diff Oil...How Much?

I am purchasing all the items I need for changing the gears to 4.10. I just need the oil. How much gear oil do I need to get to fill it to spec?

I am also changing the rear diff cover to the FRPP low profile cover. Does this increase the amount of fluid needed to fill it?

Thanks,

Sean

To the bottom edge of the fill hole (with the car level). if you put in a little too much it'll just come out the breather vent. Don't forget the friction modifier addititve if its a limited slip (Traction-Lok) diff. It shouldn't affect the amount of fluid needed by any substantial amount at all.

That doesn't help me in purchasing the right amount. I need to know how many bottles to purchase.

Get three and you'll have some left over.

I use 75w140. If it only holds 3.15 pints, why get three bottles/6 pints/3 quarts? Even with a larger capacity diff cover, mine still held less than 2 (quart) bottles. I mean sure, you have some left over, but how often do you have to top off another quart in your diff?
