How often should the air intake filter be re-oiled?

officially it only needs to be done every 20k or more miles. but if you drive it hard or alot or in dirty areas, every 10k would be a good idea. im no expert tho, just my opinion

I did mine at 8K but I probably should have waited longer, on the regharger kit it says that the dirt actually helps in the filtering.

very easy to clean---tapped out the dirt and loosened with soft bristle paint brush---applied cleaner for twenty minutes---rinsed with tap--boy oh boy---that thing filters out some serious grime! made sure to fully dry filter using fan----reapplied oil---walla! she sounds meaner this morning! make sure you hose it with water from the inside out, no focused spray either

Don't put too much oil on because it will coat your MAF sensor

Reading the K&N web site it'll work fine up to 1/16", 1/8"? inch of dirt on it, and doesn't affect the air flow, actually helps straighten it. So they say.
