A quick dyno question: GAINS

On a mustang Dyno - an 05 Mustang GT with 35000km (22K miles).

Mods:
K&N drop in filter (no piping)
Flowmaster Mufflers

296.3 rwhp @ 5500 and 304 rwhp @ 4300

What do you think? Temperature was 52F. I estimated the correction factor to be about 0.97, therefore 287 rwhp.

Explain...
You were on a mustang dyno, right?
Was that 2 pulls?
Correction factor from...to...
Torque numbers?

Mustang dyno. Two pulls were 296.2, 296.4 one pull was 294.5.

Correction factor 97% 296*0.97 = 287rwhp. Need anything else?

TQ was 304 rwTQ. before correction; 294 rwTQ with correction.

I'm wondering if this is legit.

Thanks,
-CJ

Something is way off. 287 rwhp corrected on a Mustang Dyno puts you at 315 rwhp on a Dynojet.
That would put you at 362 at the flywheel.
Take out 12 hp for the axlebacks and drop-in and your car would have had to come with 350 Flywheel Horsepower

I'm assuming that if it was on a Mustang Dyno in Ottawa it was done at Mako Racing.

My car has run down the 1/4 mile over 700 times so I have a good idea of how much each mod has helped.
It is also equipped with full Steeda roadrace suspension and Steeda body mods which slow me on the 1/4 mile.

Just to give you an idea of how my car has performed with each mod.

13.65 bone stock
13.25 Diablosport Predator with 93 Octane tune and C&L "Street" intake
12.95+ BFG Drag Radials
12.85+ Steeda Underdrive Pulleys
12.69+ JBA Longtube Headers and Catted H-Pipe
12.46+ 4.10 FRPP Gears and gutted cats

I was on their dyno at the Montreal Mustang Club event in August.
I did it as a baseline test for my upcoming supercharger install

At the time I put down 308.9rwhp/308rwtq or 306.1/306 corrected.

The estimated gains for my mods are as follows.(Dynojet)
30 rwhp for the C&L + 93 Octane tune
10 rwhp for the Steeda Underdrive Crank Pulley
06 rwhp for the Meziere water pump
23 rwhp for the JBA Longtube Headers and Offroad H-Pipe
15 rwhp for the Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel
So assuming my car came with 255 rwhp (dynojet) which is about average I should be around 339 rwhp on a dynojet.
If I subtract 10% for the mustang dyno I should be at around 305 rwhp.

This is why I'm very confident that there is something wrong with your results.
Please post a copy of your dyno sheets for comparisson.

Thanks,

Peter

Knowing that dyno's vary and that some cars respond better to mods than other cars, I still would be doubtful about those numbers. I started a thread last night recapping my current dyno numbers and the history of numbers based of my mods; all pulls were on the same dynojet and if it was a mustang dyno chances are they would be about 10% lower. The Mustang dyno was at Tapp's in Nepean, but maybe I will go to Mako for a comparo. I'll post my dyno sheet tonight.

PS, that show at Sanair was Awesome. Which one was your car? I had a red GT backed on the track wall with the dyno area behind.

PPS, I ran my car 13.8 at Sanair with that HP, 102mph was my top trap.

Talk to the tech at Tapp's. Mustang Dynos can be programmed to do a dyno run with no load to simulate a pure inertia dyno pull like you would get on a Dynojet. There are also a lot of other programming variables and calibration settings that could be off or improperly set...

I managed the following on a local Mustang Dyno when I was still stock (well, with Flowmasters)...
HP: 261.4 @ 5189 RPM / 112.9 MPH
Torque: 276.7 @ 4373 RPM / 95.0 MPH

This equated to a best 1/4 mile of 13.678 at 103.30 mph

Here's a video of the dyno pull at Sanair.

Hahaha, I'm standing just to the left listening to the exhaust in that. Cool video.

Still trying to upload a pic of my dynosheet. Mako said I can do 3 pulls for $100 this Satruday. Maybe I should give that a shot. Not too important, but I will be modding more soon, and I'd like to know where I'm at right now, for real.

My dynosheet

Here is my dynosheet from last week: note this is uncorrected. With correction ranges from about 280-287rwhp. Is that doable?
