I think a lot of the aftertmarket exhaust kits sound great, but for me the cam config makes a big difference in the way the cars sounds/runs. Is anything available or on the horizan???

I have to claimignorance when it comes to this engine. I think it is a DOHC design and I have no idea what is involved in changing them. My guess is that labor would be $500-$800??? Just a guess.

It's a SOHC engine fyi, I have no idea on install cost. And clockworks, before youre deterred, you should realize that in addition to the awesome lopey burble, BBR is claiming 100+ hp when their cams are coupled with ported heads.

That's a lot of hp. $850 for the cams, and I saw a place that is selling ported heads for $1700. $2500 for 100+ hp. Beats a low boost s/c in terms of hp per dollar (comparing a Saleen s/c running at 4 psi).
Two simple questions from a newb. How much wear and tear do high perf cams and ported heads add to the engine? How do they affect fuel economy? I know the latter is a lame question, but........
About the lopey burble, that sounds awesome...but for some reason it makes me feel like it would make the car hard to drive as a daily driver, is this true? The reason why I think this is because when I hear "lopey burble", I automatically think non street legal drag racer.
Thanks for the info, I'm actually really interested...$6000 for an s/c which puts major stress on your engine is a bit pricey for me...but I could def. swing $2500...as long as it doesn't blow up my car...
Edit: Oops, it was BBR where I saw the ported heads.

I actually just called them, for got who I spoke too, but they said they would be on the Dyno this weekend and I was told to call back on Monday or Tuesday for some numbers. They said they are hoping for 380 or 390 with bolt ons like U/Ds, Charge Motion and such, but they are really aiming for 400 at the wheels with a stock bottom end. So this is definatly interesting if they get what their looking for.

Not to mention, that test was performed on a Mustang dyno. Stock GTs register around 240-250 on Mustang dynos. So, the cam/head package + supporting mods netted about 130 rwhp, i'de say around 50 of which can be attributed to the intake/tune, long tube headers, and UD pulleys.
All of those mods could probably be had for less than 4k, so yeah ide say this is bang-for-buck competetive with the saleen supercharger (which you could always add later on top of this, reground cam profiles matching supercharger power-on and airflow characteristics would be very interesting...)

Will BBR be releasing dyno numbers on their milder cams also? If I remember correctly, they are offering three different versions. I would be interested in seeing info on their heads combined with their next step down cam offering.
