Pypes Offroad H-Pipe/SLP Loudmouth Combo
Ok. Today I was finally able to install them both...
I'm about as close to speechless as i've ever been. I no longer own a mustang. It was replaced with a top fuel dragster. All the reviews you have read about this combo being loud cannot possibly prepare you to actually hear it.
I have never done any kind of mechanical work besides installing the CAI/tune but the install was really easy. I did not have the tools necessary I soon found out. But a friend allowed me to use his shop and lift. With his help we would have finished in about an hour or less changing the entire system out. He has about a 2' extension for his ratchet and those header bolts were cake. A word of advice though...I noticed one install write up said to unscrew the sensors and when replacing them counter twist them so they are straight. Do not do this, instead just disconnect them, remove the pipe, then unscrew them and put them on the offroad pipe. Maybe I misread.
People would occasionally glance at my car before; now they stare...and they keep staring...and staring...and so on. It does trumpet at 2500 for a second or two then resumes normal. At WOT this thing is insane. You have to learn to drive around it like Cleveland said in a previous post.
I am not entirely sure I will keep this combo because of the noise I make...and coming home late I WILL wake the ENTIRE neighborhood. I don't know what else to say.

I'm glad the install went ok for you. I just took my H off today and had it welded where it connects; cost me $7.50. Easy on, easy off. And it does sound better welded, even though I had the clamp torqued tight it must not have sealed well enough.
And you're right about just unplugging the sensors and removing the pipe that way; makes things much easier.
Anyway, good luck with the neighbors!!!

Alright man! I was hoping I would be the first with this combo, but looks like i will be the second. Mine is at the UPS place waiting delevery..... I wish it wasnt the weekend....grrr........ So it should be here later today or monday, and as SOON as it comes, I will slap it on and get some videos.

I shift under 2k rpm to avoid the trumpet, and I end up going so slow...and if I accelerate AT ALL it trumpets. A lot of you seem to want videos...i'll see what I can do. I do believe I am going to remove the pipe and try different combos, stock H with SLP, offroad with stock mufflers.
On another note, on fridays and saturdays a lot of people meet at NOPI. Mostly imports but there are some domestics. I rode with a friend and looked around a bit...didn't want to bring the stang. Once we left to go to his place I got my car and did a drive by revving. Another of my friends was still there with everyone, and he said they all about shat themselves. He has threatened to kill me if I remove the pipe.

When I say trumpeting I mean a sudden HUGE increase in its loudness. It's like im at WOT for a split second, then it resumes normal...still loud.
I dont think that is what the rest of us are calling tumpeting... I may be wrong tho. I ran a couple other cars with open headers, and they are mild, but the second you give them any gas at all they sound like they are at WOT no matter what the RPM. I think that is what Bryan is refering to here.
My pipe is set for delivery tomorrow.. and the tracking number shows it will be ontime.... my last class gets out 3ish, and it will be about 45 minutes to drive home, so with a bit of luck the pipe will be there before me, and as soon as I get home, I will put it on, and get videos and get them on here. So hang tight guys! I am going to make a video with stock, then the SLPs that I already have, then with the H pipe, so you can see the difference.

I talked to Brent at brenspeed.com and I asked him if he noticed the "trumpety" sound while testing the H-Pipe/Mac setup. He said the "trumpety" sound occurs at around 2500 RPM and is releated to the new 3V engine. Basically he said there is nothing that can be done to get rid of that annoying sound. The louder the exhaust gets the louder the "trumpety" sound gets. I'm gonna try to re-route a shorter fan belt to eliminate the air pump which (at this point in time) is forcing air to the cats which are no longer there. I did this on my '93 fox body and it eliminated alot of poping in the h-pipe. I'll let you guys know if it works.

Watching this thread and others has really given me a chance to critique the heck out of my exhaust. And everybodies perception will be different, but in my eyes (or ears) I do have the trumpets now. The difference is that my trumpets are at a different frequency right now, that they're not bothersome. I can "feel" the trumpets now rather than hear them. And that's OK for ME as it stands right now. I can envision on how the Prochamber can mitigate the tone being that it's a chamber. It looks though chambered mufflers also mitigate it, but at the cost of volume less than what you had without headers and straight thru style mufflers/muffler deletes.
I've mulled it over, and I'm going to stick with JBA's catted H-pipe and see what that brings me. The cats they use may provide enough restriction to minimize the effect, at least I'm hopeful anyway.

Tony, how big are the JBA cats? My Dynatech are more like kittens... they are tiny, and don't seem to mitigate the trumpets at all.

Yeah I had that stupid trumpety sound also. It only does it at part throttle right at 2500 rpms, and lasts for a second. I had Flows and brenspeeds off-road h-pipe. I took my flows off and put the stock mufflers back on for now. It sounds so good otherwise.

(so driving my car around, it was an adjustment to get used to all the attention and looks it gets already...)

Yeeeaaah, this thing is WAY flipping louder now - holy....... I have already triggered two car alarms just by driving by slow.
You can't miss me coming now........

No doubt the loudest exhaust system I have tested. Sounds like a race car.
