4.10's everytime. The only way I would pick guages over the gears is if they came with a blower. Now go get the 4.10's and enjoy......

oes any one know of a stronger cover for the Diff that will allow it to fit behind the BMR panhard with out the extension bracket?

I have seen the trick flow, ford racing chrome cover, TA performance, GMS performance, and so on. Can anyone tell me which one can be swapped out with out the additional cost?

Just a bit overkill. I appreciate the thought.

mark me down for another happy 4.10 owner. I have an auto transmission, and I love the 4.10's. I don't race, but I like the extra sense of "quickness" the steeper gears give. At 3k on the tach, I'm doing 80mph. With the stock gears, I was doing a click or two over 100 I think? So, it still ok for cruising the freeways (I usually don't cruise more than 80mph anyway). Gas mileage went down about 3mpg over all. I used to get 25 on the freeway, now I get about 22, I used to get around 20-22 in town, now I get about 19-20.

For Me.........

Pros:

Big Fun!
Gets me through the Borla "drone zone" quicker.
Neck snapping acceleration through 1st + 2nd.
Quicker revving showcases Borlas!
Big Fun!

Cons:

A bit of gear whine.
Cruising above 75 for long periods gets a bit noisy (Borlas!)
My fuel economy went down 2-3 mpg. 22-23 @ 70. Used to get 26-27.
Accentuates any driveline vibrations.

I am going to be doing 4.10s in mine this summer. Right now I get about 22 mpg on the highway and the car is not my daily driver so I don't mind if that drops a little. What gears is everyone using? I am going to go with FRPP.

The guy that will do mine is going with FRPP and 4.10's. There are plenty of good ones out there.

In the new 5.0 Mustang mag they did a test with the new FRPP Power Pack. First test was with the 4.10s. HP and Tq both fell off on the dyno. Why is that?

A chassis dyno only measures torque (hp is a calculated number), so if torque drops, hp must also drop. With steeper gears, the effort required to turn the rear wheels is decreased and that shows up on the dyno as slightly lower torque.
