Problems with the GMS CAI
Ski, Are you a relative of Doug's or just own a lot of C&L stock? It appears that any threads that have GMS in the title will have many negative comments in them from you. It really is time to chill out ski. You have become perpetually irritating. Do you even own a GMS product?
I have to agree. Nothing but negative comments. I have read where people have gotten bad tunes and had to get the emailed to fix issues. It is good customer service to fix issues as they arise.
GMS has also fixed issues as the came to the forefront as well. I think their customer service has been pretty good as well.
Let's face it, all products will have their issues. From what I have seen is that all or most of the issues were taken care from the respective suppliers. That is all that matters.
4 out of how many? I'm sure there have been more than 4 customers with problems on their Mustang. You gonna start a "Problems with Ford Mustang" thread to let us all know about it? We are not as dumb as you might want to think we are. We can read, we have the ability to see trends develop and the cognitive ability to determine what might be causing the problem. We can then decide on our own without the help of "informers" who don't even use the product they are "informing" about.
naw, what ski is doing is fine. If this was against almost anybody other than GMS you guys wouldnt mind. GMS really has the largest following of ill will against em for quite a few good reasons.

As I previously stated in the last 2 threads ? my intention was not meant towards knocking the GMS product itself nor did I imply that it did not work ? My issues as a consumer are ? I expect the dealer in question to fully and accurately explain in complete technical detail how the particular product I'm interested in works ? otherwise if I'm not able to comprehend the techinical aspects of how that product works ? I'll either purchase it from another dealer or I just won't purchase the product at all..Therefore, if anyone wishes to interpret this as thread bashing ? then so be it..
I got the GMS CAI about a week ago and it came with a bad harness. The PCM wasn't recognizing the MAF. They kindly sent a new jumper harness immediately and got it today and guess what...BAD AGAIN!! WTF!!! This time the car just sputters to a stall 2 sec after starting!! If GMS doesn't get it right the third time i'm returning the **** thing for a C&L or something. I want this thing to work, I really do. It looks great and a lot of people love it but this harness crap...this is bull excrement...
If what you have wont work and they wont honor their products, just buy a tuner, since the GMS and CL are essentially the same. Just sucks you wasted money on the MAF. I bought a JLT + Xcal 2 from brenspeed. I was very happy with the fit, look, price, and customer service. hope you guys get the issue figured out or your money back.

Come on Ski, put out YOUR experience with his stuff. What have you had problems with that you would no longer buy his stuff? Did you ever buy his stuff? No??... I guess that pretty much says it all. You must be the ultimate authority (not)....What ever happened on commenting on personal experiences with the equipment and dealer. Lets keep these posts positive (even when negative) and informative. They are not meant for personal vendettas so I guess I can see why some of these topics have been locked already. These topics are really getting to be a waste of time.

Rock, I can understand your thoughts to a degree but I really don't expect GMS or any other vendor to give out certain information on their products or it can and will be duplicated (as GMS is often accused of by certain individuals). Since GMS is the only vendor out there currently using the harness and it has been proven to work, what the heck? What would stop another vendor from taking a tune and copying it to his tuner if every vendor published his exact specs. You just have to use common sense in these situations and "if it works, it works". I guess once the dyno runs are posted, that should clear up a bunch of the speculation.

I have had the same experience as Cavero. Customer service has been good, they immediately sent out new harness. Installed today, but it does not work either. I plugged the cable into the new MAS without the harness and the car started, so it is the harness that is the problem. I called Morgan at Granatelli. He related that they have identified that their supplier sent them a bad batch of the harnesses. He is overnighting a harness that he has bench tested as good out to me. If this doesn't work, I will have to return the thing.
I hope so, easy install (20 min), looks great and many people have had good luck with it. I'll keep you informed.

Got the new harness today. Car fired right up. Smoother idle, great sound when you get on it and I think my exhaust is just a touch louder. Definite power increase as I can really chirp the tires off the line now, and also more power at the top end. Also, the throttle "wind-up" or lag is gone off the line.
Morgan at Granatelli was very responsive. Overall good customer service. He explained that they had a bad batch of harnesses come through and they have sorted this out. I would suggest that if you got one of these you deal with him directly - it will go faster.
To sum it up, except for the first harness not working, really quite a nifty product for a good price. I hope they have sorted out how to identify the bad harness before they ship. I would hate for reputation to be hurt over a few bad harnesses, while the product really is pretty good and does what it mostly what it claims.

I'm sure they buy the product in bulk so there are probably more of them out there. Somebody's QC didn't do a good job.......
