It's significant when 4 customers have operational problems with their GMS CAI's(2 at the other site, and 2 at this site) within a period of a few days. And that does not include a 5th customer at the other site who had quality and fitment problems with his GMS CAI.

You are right about that, it could be significant. It could be indicative of a bad batch of MAF sensors. Remember the 1999 Cobra? Didn't they have a bad batch of heads?

...and yet people are still buying Mustangs from Ford!

I'm no electronics expert, but if that's the case, then I hope they don't screw up the ECM's.

Since I frequent most of the Mustang forums on a daily basis, I feel that it's only fair and just to warn others of possible disturbing trends in the quality and reliability of manufacturers' products. Sort of like a 'Consumer Reports' watchdog.
And I'm simply voicing my concern about a possible occurrence wrt a faulty MAF sensor damaging other components.

So I'm sure that whenever someone has a problem with a tune (or tuner) you'd bring that to our attention as well

Even though he is a little "exuberant" in his quest to totally wipe out GMS, it's still good to put down any "FACTS" that are out there, good or bad..If there is an exorbatant amout of problems, then it doesn't hurt to show it...Of course we have to remember the the GMS CAI/MAS has been selling like hotcakes and there are bound to be a few problems. Then again, GMS has pretty much handled all the problems like a good customer service department should.

An occasional isolated problem with a tune/tuner is not categorized as a disturbing trend.
However, if multiple users complain of having problems with a particular tune/tuner over a period of a few days, similar to what's happening with the GMS CAI, then I'll be glad to also report that for you.

Hmmm, I'm sure I've seen numerous posts of people getting a CAI and a canned tune only to have the tune running the system too lean or whatever, and then they have to get another one emailed. Same thing wouldn't you think? I'm sure that's not an isolated problem either. So, looking forward to that data.

In fact, here's one for you to get started on, just a few threads below this one.

Here's another one of a guy running too rich.

Here's a guy having problems with pinging.

1st link - No tune/tuner specified.
2nd link - No tune specified(SCT canned tune?)/SCTII tuner.
3rd link - Brenspeed tune/SCTII tuner

The only common denominator for those 3 problems is the SCTII tuner in the 2nd and 3rd links. But since pinging also happens in bone stock S197 engines, then it's possible that an internal engine problem(spark plugs, pistons, valves, carbon build up), and not the tune/tuner, is causing the pinging in the 3rd link.
So where is the disturbing trend?

Also, some of the recent problems being experienced with the GMS CAI are serious(stalling), and not just some minor pinging, or an A/F ratio that's running a little rich or lean.

Gee, you would think we must be a bunch of incompetent little kids that needs someone to tell us what we should and shouldn't buy with our own hard earned money! Some people need to get over themselves. This use to be a great site to share info and all things Mustang but, I'm really getting sick of all the "Ralph Nader" wanna be's.

Ski, Are you a relative of Doug's or just own a lot of C&L stock? It appears that any threads that have GMS in the title will have many negative comments in them from you. It really is time to chill out ski. You have become perpetually irritating. Do you even own a GMS product?
