Problem for you Automatic guys
ok for all you with an Automatic trans and the hopful wait for the Whipple i asked a Whipple tech what would i need to pass the 500hp mark on my stock Auto GT 4.6 and this is what he had to say....
Please tell me this is not true and if it is then what company makes a better Auto trans and would gears constitute as a beaf-up
Right now the car can handle 475RWHP no problem, have not gotten into the 500 range so could not tell you what is need for that power level. The automatics can only hold up to 400RWHP before the Trans and rear end need to be beafed up.

I have not heard of a single auto trans breaking because of too much power. And I know of a couple running in the low 11s and hi 10s. I had my trans redone by Art Carr, but the jury is out on whether or not it was worth it. So far, I'm not impressed, but then again I haven't driven it yet.
New gears don't really constitute "beefing up" the rear end. If you're going to strengthen the rear, you need to add things like a new differential, a girdle and/or aftermarket axles. You might even consider an aluminum driveshaft... both lighter and stronger.
