Unhappy Problem with Bamachips tunes?

I have the C&L racer intake with 87 perf, 93 torque, and 93 race tunes from Bamachips. I have only used the 93 race tune since I first got the parts (about two months ago). Recently I’ve noticed the race tune does not feel as strong as it once did; so I thought I would try the 93 torque tune for the first time in order to compare the two. To make a long story short, I loaded the torque tune, started her up, and got about 100 yards down the road when the car went into limp mode and died. It restarted right away, and seemed ok, but when I went back to the race tune, I had the same problem. All of my connections are tight, and the only thing that seems to work is if I let the car idle for 10 minutes or so before I try to drive. Am I supposed to let it idle for a while after loading a tune, or is this a problem with the tunes? Anyone else experience this problem?

Obviously, the first thing you should do is call up Doug. Although we can offer ideas on what to check for, he's the professional.

When it went into fail safe, did you get a code?

Thanks for the reply. No, it did not throw a code. I figured I would give you guys a shot to see if It was normal to let the car idle before taking off after a freshtune load before I tried to get in touch with Doug. From some of the posts I've read, he is pretty hard to get a hold of.

I've seen some weird stuff with limp mode. I've seen a car not throw any CEL, but still have codes when you read DTC's. I would let it go into failsafe mode again and try to read DTC's.

Call Doug, though. He's a standup guy and will go out of his way for you.

SCT or Diablo or other tuner? Has the pony been into the dealer for service before this? Firmware upgrades to the ECU can scrooge things up. Check out the X-cal thread sticky top of this forum if it has been. Everybody's spot on about Doug, he'll get ya straight once he gets onto the problem. Best of luck...

I have the X-cal II. No DTC's were given, and the ECU has not been upgraded (the car has not been to the dealer). I'll try to get in touch with Doug.
Thanks guys!

Thanks guys!
Just make sure to un-block your phone number before calling Doug. He doesn't accept block numbers ,because of phone salisters. Doug is a very outstanding person and he'll take care of you.

If want to remedy the problem while waiting for a response, disconnect the battery, remove the CAI, re-install OEM intake, and reload OEM tune. Hopefully that'll get you going until the problem is resolved.

Hi Tom,

I also have the C&L Racer and Bamachips tunes. I have been running the 93 Race tune since the day I installed the CAI (about 5 months ago).

To date I have had no problems relating to the tune. I did have an issue with a slight surging, mostly noticed at highway speeds. I found the cause was due to a dirty MAF sensor.

I removed the sensor from the CAI, cleaned and re-installed it. The surging was eliminated. The tune and CAI are still performing as well as they did when first installed. I am very happy with Doug's tunes.
