Anyone have a verdict on these tires... I found them in the size I want 255/50-17 just need to know anyones opinions... they sound great!

 

They are EXCELLENT tires. I had them on my 2000 v6 (with cobra rims), and saw great tread wear (as in I went a lot of miles with very little wear.....although note that the car was mostly highway use). But, they performed very nicely in the grip department.

I recommend getting them, and would have gotten them on my current setup had they made my size.

 

How much better are they than the stock Pirellis that come on the 05 GT... According to the tirerack.com reviews they dont review much better than the stock Pirellis... But I hate the stock Pirellis... even though tirerack has them on sell for $77 a tire...

 

They were GREAT compared to the stock Goodyear ZR45 tires that came on the factory SN95 17" wheels. Also, tirerack.com had the RE750's rated #3 when I got them.

In terms of comparison to the stock Pirelli's, I have no way to tell. The SN95 is a completely different feeling car than the S197. It's like comparing apples to oranges...the feel is that different. The S197 is more of a cruiser, and the SN95 was more of a "sports car" in terms of suspension.

These are pretty good tires in this size. I have them on all 4 corners in 255/50-17. These tires seem to outperform the Pirelli's both in dry and wet conditions. Of course, that should be expected for a ultra high performance summer tire versus a ultra high performance all season tire during the summer. The roles could reverse as we head into the Fall season and temps start to cool. I would have to say they are not a bad choice at all if you are truly considering them. And they do look meaty on the stock rims.

 

Got the call today... tires are in and going on tomorrow morning around 7:30 am... man I love new shoes!

Had them mounted today and they look excellent! One question though... On the front they really really fill up the wheel well... Anyone have an trouble with scrubbing with 255/50-17 on the front wheels?

 

How do they ride? Are they as quiet as the stock Pirelli's?

A lot of people are running 255 on the front, and some wider so they should not be a problem.

 

O man they ride great! They are a tad bit louder than the stock tires but truely i think its just a new tire thing and it will be just like the normal tires... also the ride is a little bumpier... but what do you expect from a high performance tire... they rip! I have no experienced any loss of traction today in the dry... it is raining now so about to get a rain test drive!

I had a pair of these on my rear wheels. Like the prev. posters said, much better than the stock Pirellis. Problem is (don't know where you live, so this may not be a factor) as soon as it starts getting cold, like 30 - 40 the traction will go bye-bye.

 

I should have mentioned this before. I had the same problem, where at colder temps (around 40 degrees), traction was less. However, I had them on a 2000 v6, and the car wasn't a daily driver, so I didn't think too much about it when posting.

 

I was looking in my front wheel wells today and I noticed tire marks on the fender wells... they look like tire track but no idea... are my tires scrubbing?

 

Another thing I should have told you (yet totally forgot), the tires have a rim guard on them (probably obvious to you now). therefore, eventhough someone states that 255's fit, with THOSE tires that may not be the case.

I had that problem with them on my 2000. I had 275/40 r17 all around (which is the factory cobra sized tires), and they rubbed ever so slightly when I turned the wheel all the way due to the rim guard on them.

How I fixed this problem: I learned to stop turning the wheel before I hit the actual steering stop.

 

HA wish I would have known that I probably would have gone with 245's up front... But it does not seem to be bad at all just rubbing ever so slightly... other than that it would not present a major problem with the tires or car other than turning the wheel all the way?

 

Mine would also sometimes do it if the wheel was turned a certain amount and I was backing out of my driveway.
