So what does it have stock? Is it a 3.27 non-limited slip. I would actually like the taller ratio for better mileage reasons but would not want to give up the limited slip. What do the aftermarket limited slip differentials cost? 600-700 dollars? Would it cost alot to get it installed?

3.31 L/S just like the Auto. Many aftermarket L/S units are better and stronger than the one on the 3.55 Ford. If you have $700 to spend that should cover it and the gears.
Choose what ratio you want.

First of all, "posi" is a General Motors term Second, all GT's still come with t-lock rear ends. The option you saw has nothing to do with it being an open rearend, it's strictly for the gearing. For 2007, all GTs come with a 3.31 ratio. The 3.55 ratio is now an option on manual tranny GTs. The only difference here is in 05 and 06 the 3.55 ratio was standard on manual tranny GTs.

Thanks for your reply. I noticed Ford has not ammended the fuel economy numbers for the MT GT (at least I have not seen it).

Does anyone know what kind of benefit one might stand to gain. Obviously MPG will improve, but by how much?
