What will it add to get your heads ported?

I just spoke with the owner of Blow-by-Racing today. They have done this already and are doing a bunch of other mods as well. He said port and polish will add 40-45 hp. It cost roughly $1500 with core. They still have a bit more work to do before they will have solid numbers.
They are located in Boca Raton, FL. They are also a Procharger dealer and work with Diablo a bunch. Here are some of the head figures that he told me about in another forum. http://www.mustangworld.com/forums/s...d.php?t=283572

They are also working on an Eleanor kit and the people in that forum are beating him up because he hasn't posted pics yet of the kit.

Blow-By has taken the time and spent the money to actually port and polish their own. I would tend to be more comfortable with someone that has already done this to the 05. I, by all means, do not work for or even know anyone at Blow-By-Racing. I just talked with the owner today about this mod. I suppose if you have a good machine shop, that knows engines, then it wouldn't really matter if they've worked on a particular car or not. I guess everyone starts somewhere. I guess the other difference is that you can order one from them, they send it to you, and you in turn send your original head back to them. This is as opposed to taking the heads off, machining them, and then put them back on.

Don't believe 169stang, I have gone down to that very racing shop and he was actually sweeping the floors!!! Not really, just kidding everyone. I have been interested in going down there to check them out. Being that I just ordered my new Lime GT today. Yippie!!! So 169 you will not be the only one in town come April. I also got the x-plan so I got a GREAT price. I have plans for it but going to start out small and then work my way up. No blower though, staying N/A. Too bad new info came out today on the '07 Cobra. But at $40K too much right now. Maybe in 5 years or so.

$700-900 is a reasonable price...there is no way i would pay $1500 for someone to port and polish brand new heads...they can possibly know what the heads problem areas are or have "the hang of it" yet its just too early!!!!

The gain will depend on the level of P&P you have done.

If the 3Vs respond like the other mod motors, expect about the following:

Mild "Stage I" type P&P = 20-30rwhp.

Radical "Stage III" type = 40-60rwhp.

Good luck!

You STINK! Just kidding. I'm not one for seeking attention, so another LL in the neighborhood is a ok by me. Congrats on FINALLY ordering one. I was wondering when you were getting one. It's still not set in stone as far as staying N/A or spending the dough. I'm still not sure if I want to take that leap. You need to get out to Moroso one of these nights and watch me run her. I usually get out there on Wednesday nights.

My point was that I would rather spend more money with a performance shop that has performed this, tested, dynoed, etc. than save a few hundred dollars by having a local machine shop say, "This is the first 3v I've done." The $1500 is a bit high for now due to them trying to recover R&D costs and being one of the only ones with related data and actually being able to offer this. You also avoid having your car sit at a shop for a week while the machine shop does the work. With this company, you simply swap heads. I guess it depends on your priorities. And yes, it is still too early. They're still working and testing.

yeah that and just from what they post on this site they arent very reliable...they say they have a body kit done and being installed(a kit most want to see, and possible purchase) then over a month later still no response...if they cant post pics in a timely manner how can you expect costomer service to be any better?.....i would never do business with people that are dishonest!!!!!!

I ran across some of those threads on other sites regarding the body kit. I really don't know details about that one. I really don't see how not posting pics of a body kit they're working on is dishonest.
Do you think a company would say they are working on something with no intention of actually doing so? Have you called them and asked them about it? Regardless, I'm not too worried about some body kit. I love the way this body looks as is. My focus is on performance and of course this is my own agenda. I know others will initially work on the exterior first. To each his own.

I think you have just about eliminated 90-95% of the performance shops in south FL. What I have found out is everyone has a horror story about some shop down here. You have to pick one shop that you can somewhat trust and then stick w/ them. They will have the knowledge and history of what was done to your car. As long as they do not try to stick it you know where!

I did not mean anything by it, all just in fun. I was going to try to hold out until late March to order and find out about the Cobra. But I know that is more than a year away until production. It is going to be close to $40K. I do not want to spend more $$$ on my current stang (having issues right now), and some other things coming up, so took the plunge. Very happy I finally did though and I got a great price!

No harm done at all! I was just messin around. Congrats on the car. I went to the track tonight and again, I have achieved a better time in the 1/4 mile. 13.51 @ 104mph. I still can't get my stinkin 60' time better than 2.038. I had it rev'd at 4000 rpm and feathered the clutch. It still bogged at the line. It was great though. I could tell that I broke 13.6!
