Geoff,

You may wish to consider the WMS intake. We just hit our group buy minimum (sticky at the top of page) so the price on the WMS system is now at it's greatest discount:

US pricing

INTAKE ALONE: $295.1
INTAKE W/RAM: $359.2

CAN pricing

INTAKE ALONE: $375.2
INTAKE W/RAM: $476

Tax and shipping additional.

I will tell you that you will soon be seeing a magazine article on this issue, testing completed by Ken at Modular Depot. I discussed this very topic with him today and his feelings were that they are all within a couple of horsepower of each other and therefore you should not go strictly off of numbers (hp). In his opinion he preferred the C&L setup becuase it is much easier to adjust tuning for. If you are going to be frequently changing mods and computer tunes I would buy a C&L, but if you just want a CAI with good performance then any CAI that requires a reflash will do unless you want to save $$$. If you want one that is good looking and could care less about tuning then I think you can buy one based on what you like as far as pictures go and you would not be dissapointed with performance because they are all so close in numbers.

If you aren't planning on tuning your engine I'd say either go with the Ford Racing ($225) or K&N ($250-$300).

IMO, the Ford Racing will produce the same hp/tq gains as the K&N within one or two hp. Maybe save some money and go Ford Racing.

I know a few say no tune, but thats hard to understand with the sensitivity of the spanish oaks processor, parameters will change if theres any improvement in air flow, therefore requiring some "tuning"...but...I may be wrong.
This has been debated of course

C&L intake is what I have- very happy with it..

I monitored the air temp in the intake on a 95 F day. While driving at 35-50mph around country roads the intakes air temp averaged 72F.
While at idle 104F at stop lights. Soon as I moved - the temp dropped rapidly. Drove around for 1 hr.

Thanks for all the replies on this topic... one quick question... I live in Florida, there is almost no such thing as cold temps and weather... will this still allow my intake (whichever I purchase - leaning towards K&N now that I found it is $250 and not $400) to perform at maximum possibility?!?

I live in Virginia and it's been in the mid 90's all summer long, I've had no problems with my K&N. It hasn't been cool enough to tell any real difference. 1 or 2 hp you wouldn't feel anyway. K&N or the Ford Racing intake are the way to go if you want to just bolt up and go pretty easy without tuning. Later on down the road if you want to tune you can. Any way you go I don't think you will go wrong. It's up to you on what ya wanna do. It get's addictive.

I'm happy w/ my K&N, wish I would have waited for the Ford Racing... :stubborn:
Ford Racing is beating pricing on things I want... just wish they would hurry-up w/ the supercharger

I installed K&N a few days ago AND removed h/c trap. No Check Engine Light as yet. Sounds a bit louder. Track testing on Friday.

As far as the mass air sensor goes... I would think that if the CAI intake hose is the same diameter as the stock intake hose at the mounting point of the sensor, it would be sending correct data to the ECU. However, if the CAI has a bigger diameter, then more air is getting to the engine than the sensor is reading, creating a lean mix situation - requiring a tune - or a new sensor. All this is hypothetical, of course. Can anyone with a tuned CAI measure the diameter of the intake hose at the sensor mounting point and confirm?

Take your money that you would spend on every mod that you might want for the next year or so and put it in the bank. Don't touch it. Use 87 octane gas and put the difference between that and Super and add that to the bank every fill up. Enjoy your car for a year or so. When you can't stand it anymore take that money and add just a bit more and get a supercharger for it. The SC will out perform any other bolton you could buy, and none of those bolt ons will work with the SC when you finally decide that you have to have one.

On the other hand, if you have have a disposable income (which it doesn't sound like you do) go with the C&L and try to sell it for a loss when you upgrade next.

Good Luck

Read my Signature and you will see my gains from stock and then to a C&L w/ Tune. I love it. and even when the car is hot it runs the same times in the qtr mile. So far I have run an 8.64 in the 1/8th mile at 83 mph.
