Performance crew..current opinion on Nitrous? 05+GT

*Something to occupy my time and hold me off till I supercharge*

I am looking for my next fix and was curious how many have nitrous on their cars and or do you not recommend it? I'm not sure how a tune would work out if you only use it occasionally.

I don't really drag race much anymore so it's not about dropping it in to go street racing or anything crazy like that. It would however be nice to have a little extra go juice should a ferrari line up next to me here in LA. (Stranger things have happened)...

And it would be nice just to have something to work on for a few weeks installing it and forgetting the troubles of the world.

I know it would require a tune....

any insight or suggestions?

You can run a Zex kit from Brenspeed at the 75h shot and not have to change tunes- I've seen it first hand. PM "Eleanor Dreaming" for more info, but I know that his car was at 300 to the tires and when he sprays the 75 shot, it jumps to like 365 or so instantly and the tune he got from Brenspeed works for both- no changing tunes just to spray!!!

If you want to go with a higher shot, then yes plan on changing your tune before you spray it. Go to www.brenspeed.com and you can read more about it......

thanks Tom, as always you got the necessary info.

I need something to put in the trunk to even out he weight distibution... the sub makes my car lean to one side.. need about 10lbs on the left side of trunk to even it out.

I'll pm him.. thanks

Can't argue with 75hp...

I've used it before on an import and at a 75hp setting and never had problems, just curious about hurting my new baby.

Yeah, I would really love to go with nitrous as well but I think F&F movie series distorted its image in a way, now im afraid Im gonna blow up!

If you look around here and other sites, it will be hard for you to find someone that's blown their engine using nitrous (I'm referring only to these cars, not other Mustangs, etc.). Now, people running blowers on the otherhand, are much easier to find when it comes to blown motors........ Not saying one is better than the other but that's a fact.

If you get nitrous you more than likely won't keep it. You'll want that power all the time. I had it on my V6 and never used it on the street and only a few times at the track. I wouldn't mess with nitrous again.

I partially want it so that people can say "oh dude, your gonna blow your motor"....

hahahaha

i'm not afraid to use it and know its only a temp speed fix and has a short window of usage.. it's just quick and relatively cheap power.

Is he supposed to wait while you hop out, open the trunk to turn it on and to heat the bottle? LOL

I had that but never ended up using it on the street. Nitrous is cool i guess but I'd rather go F.I. or get serious with N/A.

I have it and it does give a good kick, however I'm going with a s/c this spring ,want the power all the time. You would have to invest in a bottle heater and a remote bottle opener, I was told not to leave the bottle open for an extended period of time, as the bottle starts to go down the h.p does also. On a 75 shot with the Zex kit bottle full and pressure at 900 you will get a 60 rwhp increase.

never touched the stuff, never have, never will. Was never a big fan of Nitrous. I've seen what Nitrous can do, even if the car is tuned right....

People with Nitrous are considered to be cheaters in many people's minds...not mine, but something to consider.

Nitrous is cheap and easy power, which to me was too good to be true, so I went S/C.

I'd recommend saving that money for the blower.

On a side note, I can't get over your screen name being 06GTw/Boost. You don't even have boost. Your planning on it.

Someone said it best, "Bragging about mods you don't even have yet, is like bragging about the girls that you never slept wth!" You could have just changed your screen name after you got blown...LOL!

True...

knowing my luck lately someone would have chosen the screen name and I'd be screwed.

I had GSRwBOOST on another forum for a while and eventually got around to installing turbo.. so in the end it all worked out..

Nitrous, when used correctly and not at insane levels, is probably the safest power adder for your stang. The systems that are out there are easy to install and dam near fool proof. That being said, the others are probably right about wanting to go blown in the future. You do have to keep filling that bottle.
That is a cool clip though.

People who have NEVER used nitrous who complain about how dangerous nitrous is are funny. Do us all a favor and don't help us with your expert opinions.

I had nitrous on one of my previous cars for a year and a half and it ran fine on a 75shot. Then I went turbo, but left the kit on the car. I never used both at the same time. Looking back after building the block I should have.

Nitrous is safe for your car as long as you have a good tune for it but I bet it is a pain in the butt having to keep filling that bottle. I like having the power all the time so I went with a supercharger.
