Performance computers
I'm still trying to figure out how to launch my 05. At 2500rpm and above, I don't hook, just boil the tires. At 2000, I get a little slip and then it hooks. I think that's the right way, but I've got no simple way to measure it right now.
I'm thinking of getting a GTech or a Passort G-Timer. I'm leaning to the latter, it seems to be a good price/performance compromise. From what I have read, it is more accurate for straightline performance measurement, but you lose the RPM graph capability and the Torque measurements.
Anyone have any experience with either or both?

But, if you search for it, there are lots of peopel who have used it and love it.
My dad told me last night that he ordered the G-Timer for me. It's a delayed birthday present (he was going to buy me a Mustang car cover, but I told him to hold off on that).
Not sure if he bought me the GT1 or the GT2, but I don't really care, I wouldn't dare look a gift horse in the mouth!

The very best thing you can do if you plan to kick butt is to go to a driving school. There is a lot more to it than mashing the gas and dumping the clutch. You don't become a John Force. or The Snake overnight even though some want to think so. It is well worth the cost and is the shorts way to the victory lane. Ask around and find one in your area or spend your vacation near one. You will be glad you did. G meters will not tell you what you did wrong only that you screwed up. Purchase a tachometer with a shift light. That is a must do!! If you are older like myself you know full well your reaction-shift time has slowed way down and you are not going to outshift a trained young person however you will beat many of the seat of the pants guys if you know what you are doing and I do. However after shifting my new Gt for three weeks I was tired of all that work so gave it to my son and ordered an automatic. BIG SMILE I didn't want him to have to wait forty years to get his.
I do wish I had lit up the tires for about twenty feet or so before I gave it to him just for the fun of it.
