well of course I would recommend McLeod Clutch, since we at B&M now own them. But regardless McLeod stuff has always been top notch and would be a good option

Centerforce is a gimmic - McLeod on the other hand is awesome! I just hope B&M doesn't screw up the product.

Gimmic? Probably one of the best out there. Takes a beating and a good pedal feel.

RPM,

Please post specifics. Over the years I have only heard good things about the dual friction and Centerforce clutches. Now you jump in with your "gimmic" and the rolling eyes smiley.

Needless to say, this just doesn't hold much water with me. So please post detailed information about your own experiences with them and why you think they don't work.

OK, fair enough. Over the years I have used Centerforce Dual Friction clutch kits in GM applications. Specifically the 11" clutch with either 10 or 26 spline discs. What I and many others have reported on other boards is incomplete release between the plate and disc. I found in this problem with several plates I have run and have personally seen it in other cars. What I found were the weights installed on the pressure plate diaphram fingers shifting off center and distorting the pressure plate diaphram spring. These pressure plates at least in my application are Valeo units so I called Valeo and spoke to a tech about them. He indicated that Valeo sold the plates to Midway Industries (owner ot the Centerforce brand) and that Midway installed the weight rings and painted the covers. I purchased a stock replacement Valeo plate and compared it to my "hi perf" Centerforce. The only noticable difference were the goofy weights which can never work IMHO and a crappy orange paint job. The Dual friction pressure plate, at least in GM 11" applications is nothing more than a stock replacement plate with a bad paint job, a cute little sticker, and some half-arsed weights that cause nothing but problems.

Their (Centerforce Dual Friction) disc on the other hand seems fine.

I'm just pissed at this company for passing off what is supposed to be some great clutch kit which under closer inspection is just some scamed up gimmicked-out stock pressure plate. BTW, their customer service is just like their pressure plates, suck!

Does this answer your question?

ok I see nobody has mentioned Spec. When replacing the clutch and flywheel with theirs then there is no shims needed. I have been running the stg3+ with aluminum flywheel for about 9 months with very nice street manners and great holding power. I have not exactly been easy on it either with consistent low 1.6 60 ft's at the track.
