I'm looking to paint my brake calipers but I can't find the exact color I'm looking for in a heat resistant paint. Do you think regular Tremclad primer + paint would burn off or discolor?

Yup. Those things get very hot. Look at engine paint but keep in mind you have to bake it after spraying for it to set right. I couldnt find the right shade of Yellow so I dropped this mod from my list.
Good luck. Let me know what you find out.

picked up a couple dupli-color caliper kits. mixed a bit of blue into silver. I'm not sure if I like the results. it's subtle enough that it doesn't scream do-over. which is good because I really don't want to do-over

Yeah, I think it was cool that you tried something different, but it doesn't really work for me. The light blue just doesn't go with the torch red at all. :notnice:
But that's only if you were asking for opions anyway...

Ahem... it screams do-over to me. How about black?

seriously though, I don't want dark colors because they draw too much attention to the wheels, and imo the wheels should compliment the vehicle rather than become a focal point. Yellow would be awful and red is overdone these days.
the light blue is starting to grow on me... if anything I'd repaint them silver or scrape the paint off. Not about to any time soon, though.... too much like work.

yup, looking for opinions... but only those that agree with me!

I do have to disagree with you though, painting them black would draw LESS attention to the wheels that what you have currently. TBO, I think black is what you should do if you are trying not to draw attention.

You need to use something that is ceramic based or it will discolor and flake off.

Check out www.expresspaint.com if you want the color to match. I emailed them and they said the paint would work for calipers. I'm not guaranteeing it myself and I haven't done it yet so this is informational only, but it's probably worth a shot.

I will be painting mine as well. Unsure of the color though. I don't clean the stock bullitts as often as I should, but them Bogart's look nice and shiney! LL green.....I was thinking something either black or maybe a Anthracite color.?
