Exclamation Ordering parts (Need advises)

Hi everyone,

I am about to order some parts, mainly a new exhaust for my Stang and I would like to know if any of you have experienced the following parts supplier : http://www.speedycarparts.com/

I am asking this because I'm trying to be careful when ordering through the internet, especialy since I do not live in the US.

Appreciate your help.

Greetings from Switzerland

me again,

this might sound like a silly question but once again, I am not really familiar with how you guys deal with US websites selling parts. I called speedycarparts.com because I wanted to get a rough idea on how much it would cost me to get my exhaust shipped to Switzerland and the guy tells me that I have first to place my order, give my credit card number and only after that I will get a quotation. Why would they need to know my credit card number for a simple freight quotation??????? Is this a common practice and I am just being paranoid ?

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply 05stangkc. What do you think about the fact that they ask me to place the order and give my credit card first before providing me with a freight quotation ? You would do that too ?

They should be able to give you a freight quote without using your credit card. If they are not willing to accomodate your needs to get your business, move on to the next vendor.

No way. This is most definitely not a common practice, and if any company asked me to do that, I would hang up the phone. I dont know what that company's specific purpose was with the number, but there is no way they need your credit card info for a price quote.

Given the fact that you're overseas, it would be extremely difficult to get help if you had a fraud problem, so I would be careful. There are plenty of reputable companies out there that will be able to help you with problems.
Also, there are a few guys on these boards from Europe (UK, Germany) that have had items shipped from the US, so maybe they can help you find some good shipping rates. Good Luck!
