OBX primaries

Are the primaries only 1 1/2 inches on these headers or are they 1 5/8 ? I've seen both advertised.

The ones I bought advertised them at 1 1/2, but 1 5/8 is only .125 inches bigger so it wouldn't affect performance on a N/A motor. I should have mine in hand tonight, so I will measure and let you know. 70MACH1OWNER did a write up on his experience with installing 2 sets, he wrote:

"Here are some facts about the OBX Headers.
1. They are truely made from 304 SS. (no magnet draw)
2. Primary size is 1 5/8 dia.
3. Tubing wall thickness on all primaries, and H-pipes is .060 thick (16 ga.)
4. Header flange is 3/8 inch thick or thicker. Both Larry's and mine measured about 7/16 thick."

They are 1 5/8 dia. and are .060 tubing thickness and the flanges measured close to 7/16 thick. I measured all of these areas when I got mine. I have even seen them advertised as 1 3/4 primaries. Hey Dean I must have been uploading this pictures when you made your post. But you are correct on all counts.

Hey,thanks for the info. I think I will go ahead and order a set.The only thing I will do is splice in a pair of those Pypes mini-cats into the H-pipe so I'm not choking on fumes and to make it legal.

Hey, choking on fumes is 1/2 the fun of having headers!

One day I'll get off my lazy butt and order mine. I'm going to do the same as Vega and put the Pypes cats in place of the "resonators".

On the Hpipe, measuring the longest strait area is 15" from bend to bend. So I would say 12"-13" max to save some room for the cat to slip on. But you can also butt the cat to the pipe and weld it and that will give alittle extra room (and a better conection).
