OBX Headers, Street legal?
#21
Some more info on the subject.
1. It appears that many of the recent Kooks/American Racing High flow cats flow so well that they will trip the rear O2 into setting a CEL.
2. I know of one car that had this problem, put MIL eliminators on, that problem went away but now he has a cat not ready code or something. No one can figure out why this code is there or how to clear it up.
Also, FYI, the EPA and such have been cracking down on companies that make MIL eliminators and some liek Steeda have stopped making them.

Hey, n8rfastback, I was looking at the BBK setup before I ran across the OBX. They look like they are street legal right out of the box, does the O2 extentions come with the BBK's or are they purchased separately, and how much do they cost? Spending the extra money for a setup that I do not have to modify might be my best bet. Put it on and forget about it, no worries. I just don't want to worry about swaping anything once a year (lazy) to pass inspection.

Well you did a great job of proving my point wrong!! I can see that the O2 sensors in the BBK's are before and after the cats like they should be. And that is impressive....my next question is are they billed as being EMISSIONS LEGAL? And are both the front and rear O2 sensors active in your tune? Inquiring minds want to know!! And you might want to edit your earlier post where you said "OBX" headers

I cant remember if they are billed as being emissions legal or not.. but remember reading about others with similar setups passing emissions tests....
both my front and rear sensors are active in my tune. i gave brenspeed the exact model numbers for the tubes and x pipe when i asked for the tunes.
sorry about the "obx" thing, dont know what i was typing....

the headers come with extenders, and the x pipe does too!!!
this really is a buy it and slap it in type of setup... everything you will need comes with the kit.
these tubes and x pipe are made specifically for each other... for our car.
you can keep the stock cat back setup too if you want too.. as all of these pieces are bolt in and nothing needs to be modified.

well the entire bbk package can be had for around 800 total.
you can use the stock mufflers and cat back stuff if you like, or spend a few hundred more and get a different setup... the pypes mid muffs are only 300
that puts you at full exhaust for 1100...
pretty cheap considering a lot of LT setups alone out there are like 1k
