O2 sensor not plugged in

Hey guys,

I installed my Pypes Off-road x pipe and for some reason could not get one of the O2 sensors to reach and plug back into the new pipe... So i installed a plug and taped off the sensor.... now i'm getting a check engine light and after pulling the code its p2195 (O2 sensor).... now thats not a big surprise since its not connected...

My question is: other than the annoying light will this cause any problems to the car or is it safe to leave it this way?

I had a shop look at it and they wanted $100 to extend the wiring of the o2 sensor so it would reach.... not sure i wanna spend any cash just to get rid of the light...

thanks for any info you guys can provide...

I believe the bank that has invalid input will make an assumption as to the correct amount of fuel to inject, sometimes erring on the rich side. It will cause excess carbon build-up, and poor fuel economy, the degree of which I am uncertain.

You can buy a set of O2 extensions for about 45.00.
Or just rewire & extend yours.

Your sensors should reach that pipe with no problem...... it isn't caught or getting held up on something is it?

i got the P2196 O2 code this wkend, and poor gas mileage was the first thing i noticed....i have mil's for the back one's plus extenders for the front, and just recently got a new tune for longtubes. i was able to clear the code via my x-cal. but will notify brent and see what he thinks.

started the car and it sounded like it had a cam, rough idle for a few secs. pumped the gas to idle it down (definetly had a rich condition) and went for a ride, well.... the car is now running just fine, sounds great, longtubes ya know... no codes and gas mileage went back up. ran this by SETH @ BRENTS, maybe a faulty O2, may show up again... he did give some pointers to tell if its the O2 next time, maybe there's no next time...... crosses fingers.

FYI- You will find that carbon build-up on exhaust tips is very common on these cars, no matter what the tune and/or air to fuel ratio.
