Exclamation O/R X or H pipes and Warranty

After talking to Kevin at Clevparts about this I'm a bit hessitant to order my O/R H pipe. He said it could void my powertrain warranty. Those of you that already have installed these: Do you not car if your warranty is voided? Or do you not believe it will cause problems that lead to it? I just want your opinions. Mainly I want to be convinced into getting them.

The only thing that will possibly void any warranty is the fact that you are removing the cats. They are required under federal law on all vehicles operated on the street. That's why they call it an OFF ROAD pipe, it's only meant for OFF ROAD purposes, like racing, rock crawling, farm trucks...etc. The lack of cats could potentially maybe cause issues with some O2 sensors and when the dealer looks under there and finds no cats, they will say "there's the problem!"

Most dealers will look for an excuse to void your warranty or to not do work under warranty so they can charge you for it. Dealers make more money that way. Try to find a dealer in your area that is mod friendly, ask around. My local dealer has been great. Have had to have warranty work done on it 3 times now and no crap about my mods.

If they had given me crap I would of probably made a HUGE scene as none of my mods could cause my altenator to fail at 3,000 miles and my brake resevoir to leak and also the leak to destroy the paint.

I agree with Adam.

For the Dealer not to honor a warranty claim, the defective part must be related to a specific mod. For instance, you're up creek if your struts begin to leak and you have an Eiback Pro Kit installed or your tail lamp burned out and you have a CDC Sequential kit installed, etc, etc.

You're facing the same question with almost half of your present and future mod list. I know you want the H, so just go get it!

I'll attempt to put this warranty issue to rest once and for all... This is neither an opinion from myself nor my quotes, but from a Ford Field Service Engineer...No dealership has the legal authority to void a Ford manufacturer's warranty... The procedure is as follows... The dealer's service manager must request that a field service engineer be brought in to investigate the warranty claim, by conducting a full investigation and must then prove within a reasonable doubt that the modification or aftermarket parts were directly responsible for causing either the powertrain or engine components to fail...The results of that investigation are then submitted to Ford corporate headquarters, in Detroit in which Ford then reviews the results and then bases its final decision from the field service engineer's investigation and recommendation... Finally, the dealership in question is then notified of the warranty claim status, as either approved or disapproved, by Ford corporate... Therefore, don't allow dealerships like this intimidate you...They do not have the legal right nor authority to void a manufacturer's warranty... Even dealerships are required to follow proper procedure and are not above the law...

Thanks Leo and to be perfectly honest with you, I didn't know either until I actually had the chance to speak to a field service engineer who was resolving a warranty issue with my batteries going dead after sitting for just 12 days, and decided to ask him out of curiosity about Ford's warranty policy and I'm glad I did, because now we all know the real truth and no longer have to put up with those kind of dealers.. It's like Adam said, if a particular dealer ends up trying to give you a rough time, just move on and find another dealer who's willing to work with you and not against you...Life's way too short as it is, and we all have better things to do than waste time putting up with dealership service centers like that...
