After reading numerous accounts of HC trap removal and great power gains for free, I removed mine. You can instantly feel a difference, at first it seems like you have more power because the car revs easier. Actually what happened was throttle response turned to zero. Removing the HC trap with no tune is NOT a good idea. I'm not sure how all these people are removing and saying that they've had no problems. It stinked all the power out of my car. This is probably not clear at all. Basically I wanted to say that removing the HC trap was a bad idea. I'm sure the case is different when you add a CAI, but removing the HC trap alone with no tune turned my car into a taurus. hope this helps someone

i do plan on ripping that hc trap out the second i have a tuner

DO you have a manual or auto? I have the auto and removed mine a week ago. Helped the throttle response a good bit, sound isslightly improved. No tune.

I was going to leave my HC trap in and not touch it until the other day when I met up with some other GT owners. We were all kinda checking our engines etc out. When I seen that a car made before mine had the HC trap and he took it out with no problems whatsoever and then a car made after mine that DIDNT even have the HC trap put in and he had his car for like 3 days prior to the meet. I then felt that if FORD could pull it out and put it in then it may not be that big of an issue to pull it. So the first thing I didn when I got home was pulled it. No CEL nothing but I may be crazy in saying this I did notice a bit more power to my stang nothing enormous just a lil more pick up.

OK let me get this straight. If there is a hydro trap in there then I should put it in the air-charger and if there isn't I shouldn't worry about it? Is the factory tuning these cars differently without the hydro trap?
Does anyone have the answer to this question?

I have been running the K&N CAI without the HC trap (came with one)for almost 500 miles with no problems at all. I have had some problems with trying a canned tune. No problems stock though.

I as well have had no problems with K&N CAI with no tune and no HC trap. My car did come with one. I have tried several tunes with my predator and when I change anything to do with timing or fuel, I get engine ping. It is perfect with no tuning.
