Hi all, I am a brand new member and I have an 06 GT with the auto trans. I have been lurking around here for a while and have found lots of great info from this site. I just installed the SLP Loudmouth pipes today and have been testing it out a bit. The installation was very easy and the quality is very good. I absolutely love the sound and the looks of the pipes. I am disapointed in that my GT seems a little more sluggish now. It does seem down on power compared to stock. I did not disconnect the battery, I just installed the Loudmouths and drove. The car runs and sounds great though. Anybody out there with the Loudmouths have an auto trans? Do you think I need to disconnect the battery to reset the computer? Or will the computer find it's power back in time? I really don't want to put the stock mufflers back on but I will if I can't get my power back. Thanks in advance for any help..

There have been other threads regarding exhaust swaps and car performance. I have read that there is a transition period on the car on high flow cat and axle back exhaust upgrades that eventually work their way out.

I have an auto and experienced the same thing with the Borla install. I did a battery reconnect and after running a few days everything worked its way out.

The computer learns things and is very sensitive. It needs to relearn the new exhaust probably the change in back pressure.

Pretty much everybody's that posted on this subject after a little time returned to normal.

Edit added: Welcome to the forums there is alot of info here and post some pics.

First of all, welcome to TMS!

I have an auto trans and LMs. I have switched mufflers twice now (first to PowerFlos, and then to LMs), and neither time did I disconnect the battery. And I had no problems at all.

Thanks for the replies and the welcome....6505pony, do you think it would be wiser to disconnect the battery now or wait it out? Don_w, the only problem i've noticed so far is the power loss. It definetly does not have the low end thrust it used to. You didn't notice any difference in the power at all?

None whatsoever... but, then again, I had a CAI & Predator tune in before I changed the cans.

I changed my exhaust to Borlas before I did any other mods. I was still running the stock intake and no custom tune.

It certainly won't hurt to do the battery thing and maybe Don's tune that was already in his car prevented the can change from disrupting his performance.

I've got an auto and when I installed the SLP LM's I noticed no performance change at all. I don't have a tune or any other mods. There was a similar thread about this issue, so maybe there is weight to it, but I'm skeptical they would reduce performance. Would like to see a dyno chart, with before, after and another after about a month of driving with them on to see if there really is any change.

Most everyone whose had an issue have said it went away with a bit of driving around.

Good luck.

Same thing 4 me . . . wait it out or battery disconnect . . . . either way you're looking at 200-300 miles before recovery from my experience.

Thanks for fast replies everyone. I did the battery disconnect and did some driving over the weekend(when it wasn't raining like crazy). The power seemed a little better. I hope it recovers fully like most have experienced. The sound of the car is absolutely incredible. My wife loves it too. You can just putt around town without being noisy, but when you want her to roar just tap the pedal! I let her roar thru a railroad tunnel and it is just music my ears. The only thing that sounds better and a little louder is my Harley with Sreaming Eagle pipes.
