I just drained the transmission and rear end and replaced the fluids with Royal Purple Synchromax and 75W-140 Max Gear Lube. I definately notice less resistance when moving the shifter through the gears.

Ok great. I will be doing this right away.

Does anyone know where I can get Royal Purple tranny fluid? Advance Auto Parts seems to have Royal Purple synthetic motor oil, but nothing else by them.

Also, it is 3.2 quarts to fill the transmission to the correct amount right?

Mercon-V has more friction modifiers than Mercon. Type F has very little friction modifier.

More friction modifier = slipperier.

Yes, capacity for the manual trans is 3.2 quarts. I got my fluid at Pep Boys. You can go to Royalpurple.com and search for a dealer by state.

Yeah I did that search. I found Pep Boys as a place, but I called them tonight to see if they had any. Non answer since it's so late. Auto Zone, Advance, none of them have it, so I'm crossing my fingers Pep Boys does.

I'm having this on my 2005 model too. Not constantly, but especially the 3rd is sometimes making grinding noises. Recently more than ever before.
I wonder if this would change once I'd install i.e. a Hurst shifter with shorter throws?

That is certainly good to know, since I've only read of this problem occuring on 08's.

I'm pretty sure some of the older models are experiencing this same problem.
My question is, when you guys are getting this grinding noise, is it the type of noise as if you didn't apply the clutch? or is is sort of a bump or nip type grind?
I have the latter type, when cold but it subsides after a couple of runs through the gears.

yep, it sounds like the clutch is not in all the way when shifting...
