I was supposed to post these a couple weeks ago, but I didn't get to put the drag radials on for the first trip and decided to wait.

So anyway, first trip out, temp in the 80's falling to the 70's, don't know any other environmental data. This was with the stock tires on 17x9 wheels and other mods posted below.

For comparison sake I'll post the previous weeks time with the Diablo and stock filter box/K&N drop in along with the new set up.

Diablo best time with the stock 3.31 gear w/stock tires(in much cooler weather earlier in the year, 30 April 2005)

60' 2.145
330 5.923
1/8 9.032 @ 79.55

This was the best I could ever do with the diablo. This was also my best 60 time at this track. They don't do a great job at prepping the track for Friday night runs although some do get into the 1.7~ range with slicks, just not me.

Diablo tune, M/T drag radials, same set up as above but hotter weather, was running 3 gallons of BP 92o with 5 gallons of 100o race gas, 18 June. One note, I was almost unable to heat the tires up properly because I couldn't break them loose to do a burn out, the car just wouldn't respond down low.

60' 2.186
330 6.025
1/8 9.163 @ 78.74

The tires were hooking, but I noticed considerable lag after hookup below 3000 rpm. Tried various launch techniques with brake torquing and this was the best run I got.

Now, with the new intake and Xcal 2 tune from Alternative.

Street tires and running half 92 half 100 gas for about 7 gallons in the tank.

60' 2.147
330 5.931
1/8 8.996 @ 80.68

This was my first run of the night, pretty much went through tech and went to the line and banged it out. After this run the 60' times started going all over the place, and directly influenced my over all times, but all ending mph's were in the 80.5+ range.

With street tires on the track, I chirped 2nd HARD every time, several times the car got sideways a bit. One run I must have picked up some water from a previous driver as I also caught THIRD. Needless to say my time was slow.

M/T drag radials and same gas set up as above. Temps are still in the 80 degree range.

60' 2.155
330 5.932
1/8 9.006 @ 80.68

As you can see, 60 times are about the same as with street tires. I'm not getting "much" spin off the line, but still a tiny bit. Again, they don't prep the track for #$%^ on fridays. No catching second with the M/T's though, it's just a neck snapping shift. My best 60' of the night was just a 2.132, I really don't know how to get that 60' time down, and it's frustrating to see other Auto's getting 2.00's and lower.

The upside to the M/T's are that ALL of my 60' times were now consistant to within .05 seconds where the street tires could be up to .2 off from run to run.

So, the xcal2 and intake got me approx 2 mph faster trap speed, but not that much faster ET in the 1/8th. Next week I'm making the drive to the 1/4 track, which they prep a little better (i was getting consistant 2.15 60' times with snow tires in april). I'm not holding out much hope for better low end times, but I think I should see some great top end speed and hopefully some sub 14 second runs. Back in april I did a best of 14.06 just at 100 mph with snow tires, the diablo tune, and a 4.10 gear.

Oh, speaking of the 4.10 gear, I'm getting faster times now than I ever did with the 4.10 in, but I wasn't running the M/t's then either. I would think it would have made a difference, but I don't know how much.

So, for me, the alternative auto set up with the C&L was worth it as I know I got more HP from it based on the trap speeds I'm posting now. I just need to figure out how to get that dang 60' time down to sub 2 seconds and I'll be happy. With the M/T's consistant launches bracket racing should be a real possiblity too, but I'll probably wait till next year for that.

Any questions? I"ll try to answer as best I can.

Two things I see you need to do. Toss the race fuel as it is slowing you down unless you have a extreme amount of timing in it that it pings on 93. I do not see any benefits from running that much timing either with the stock motor. Second I would not use a sticky tire with the stock stall and gears. A small amount of wheel spin off the line might improve your times. The sticky tire is causing it to bog. Other than that your MPH is up which is a good sign of HP,so that is a postive. Keep working at it.

Thanks Mike

Christopher... FWIW, I haven't had much luck to date either.

With the C&L CAI, Predator, 4.10s and street tires (Nitto 275/50-17), and on a really bad temporary track (set up in a stadium parking lot), the best 1/8-mi run I've had has been:

60' 2.102
1/8 8.929 @ 78.81

I'm anxiously awaiting the day when I get on a good track, with good weather.

stephon, yeah, the 5 speeds you have more leeway on getting your 60' time down. Us automatics have to deal with it.

On the upside, I'll never miss a shift
